It takes someone with an independent spirit to be able to hold an Aquarius' interest.

You know what you’ll never hear? “That Aquarius is really boring” or “My Aquarius partner is so co-dependent.” Why? Because Aquarius individuals are the most intriguing, independent, and open-minded people on the planet.

If you have an Aquarius person in your life, you may wonder if you have the right zodiac compatibility with them. In terms of Aquarius compatibility, where does your zodiac sign stand? Can your horoscope or astrology, in general, give you the personality that fits well with an Aquarius?

Famous Aquarians include Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, Oprah, Shakira, Aston Kutcher, Justin Timberlake, Ellen DeGeneres, and Harry Styles. The Aquarius celebrity may be mainly known for one thing, but they generally reach beyond that.

Aquarius people change the world with their innovations, creativity, and brilliance. Galileo, Mozart, Charles Darwin, and Thomas Edison all were born under the sign of Aquarius. This zodiac sign doesn’t care if you tell them that they can’t do something or that their ideas are outrageous, because they’re going to do it anyway.

They are able to learn from their mistakes, and they rarely make the same mistake twice. It’s not just that Aquarians dream big, they actually make their dreams come true and those dreams have lasting effects on civilization.

They’re very independent thinkers and don’t rely on the opinions of others. Aquarians can be contrary just for the fun of it as they hate to be controlled in any way. It’s pointless to tell an Aquarius how to behave or think because they’re just going to be themselves, no matter what anyone else thinks they should do. They have strong opinions and have no problem voicing them, even when it’s not the most appropriate time to do so.

Most Aquarians are very much into music, whether it’s playing an instrument themselves or just having a major appreciation for it. There’s a connection between the Aquarius individual and music that isn’t just surface; music speaks directly to the soul of the Aquarian.

Aquarians are definitely not like anybody else, but it’s their eccentricity that makes them so special. How do you stack up with this zodiac sign? Here's the Aquarius compatibility for all the zodiac signs.

Aquarius & Aries

Not surprisingly, Aquarius and Aries are very compatible and have a wonderful connection with each other. They both like adventure, are very independent and have a lot of energy for trying new things. The problem is that they both like to lead and neither one of them enjoys taking a back seat to anyone.

There's a lot of chemistry between the two, and both enjoy experimenting. Aquarius and Aries may be competitive with each other but a relationship between the two is never boring. There's an admiration between the two of them that never dies so even if their romantic relationship doesn't work out, they'll remain great friends.

Aquarius & Taurus

Aquarius and Taurus are too dissimilar to be a good match. Aquarius are too free-thinking and independent for Taurus, who tend to be more traditional, though both can be accused of overthinking. Aquarius are more open to all different kinds of experiences and people than Taurus.

It would be one thing if either of these two signs were any good with compromise, but they're not and they're both stubborn, so if they get into a disagreement, it can go south very quickly. Aquarius can find Taurus too possessive and too concerned with security to be a good fit for them.

Aquarius & Gemini

Aquarius and Gemini click on so many different levels: mentally, socially, emotionally, and sexually. They are the couple you want at your party because they're so fun, interesting, and good at communication. Aquarius doesn't want to be controlled, and Gemini has no interest in being controlling.

There's no jealousy in this relationship even if there is plenty of passion and enthusiasm. Gemini is up for anything as long as it's not routine and boring, and Aquarius is happy to provide some excitement to their relationship. Aquarius & Cancer

Aquarius and Cancer will bond over a love of music and a love of the outdoors. While Aquarius cares passionately about the world and its inhabitants, Cancer's concern falls more on their loved ones and people close to them. However, Cancer is way too emotional and takes things too personally for Aquarius.

When faced with Cancer's possessiveness and sensitivity, Aquarius will try to distance themselves from Cancer. Aquarius tend to be extroverts, and Cancers are more likely to be introverts. If they're friends, there may be a falling out when Cancer's feelings get hurt by Aquarius. If Aquarius doesn't feel that Cancer's feelings are justified, they won't do anything to repair the rift between the two.

Aquarius & Leo

Things could go either way when an Aquarius and a Leo get together. There could be a mutual fan club as both signs are popular, creative, and captivating. However, Aquarius may be a little too detached and distracted for Leo's taste. Leo likes to have their partner ready to shower them with affection and praise, and Aquarius may be too busy with other things to give Leo what they need.

As both signs are their own kind of leader, there could be a power struggle between the two — Leo being a strong leader who isn't afraid to use glitz and glamour, while Aquarius is more of a social justice advocate kind of leader. No matter what kind of bond Aquarius and Leo have or don't have, they always have much respect for each other.

Aquarius & Virgo

These two signs aren't especially compatible even though both are mentally agile and helpful. Virgo is just too uptight and focused on unimportant details for Aquarius' liking, and Virgo finds Aquarius very careless and too liberal.

Aquarius want the freedom to go against the crowd and make mistakes, even if the mistakes are messy. Virgos are much more pessimistic and control the various elements in their life as much as possible.

Sometimes Aquarius just wants Virgo to let loose and to dance as if no one was watching. Virgo tends to think Aquarius' super-sized ego is obnoxious and would like them to settle down.

Aquarius and Libra are very compatible; they enjoy having a rich social life, going to cultural events, and just hanging out. Both signs tend to react from the head, but there are times when Libra will need to express their feelings, making the Aquarius partner feel a little uncomfortable.

It's okay if Aquarius wants to keep their emotions to themselves; that will just leave Libra more time with Aquarius to talk about the things they're both passionate about, like fighting for the underdog, changing the world, and expressing their ideas in creative ways. Aquarius and Libra learn from each other and add something to each other's life that was missing.

Aquarius & Scorpio

Aquarius and Scorpio tend not to be especially compatible. While they both treasure honesty and both are very captivating, they don't work as a couple. Aquarius' independence sparks Scorpio's jealousy, and Scorpio's moodiness tends to annoy Aquarius. Aquarius enjoys going out and can be somewhat flirtatious, causing Scorpio's green-eyed monster to make an appearance.

Scorpio is almost too passionate and sexual for Aquarius. Scorpio may not intend to, but they can make Aquarius feel trapped and like the walls are closing in on them. Aquarius doesn't get why Scorpio has to be so mysterious and secretive all the time. Basically, these two signs just don't understand each other.

Aquarius & Capricorn

Aquarius and Capricorn are one of those couples where they make better friends than romantic partners. It's because they're so different. Aquarius is more of a rule-breaker, and Capricorn is more of a rule-maker. Aquarius don't need a stable foundation or have their feet firmly planted on the ground like Capricorn.

Capricorns might have an independent streak but they're not as free as Aquarius. Capricorn is patient with Aquarius but also careful; it takes a lot for Capricorn to let down their guard and trust Aquarius. Aquarius admires how disciplined and ambitious Capricorn is but wishes that they would quicken their pace. Aquarius would rather work a lot of dead-end jobs that allow them to travel than set themselves on a career path like Capricorn.

Aquarius & Aquarius

Most of the time an Aquarius individual gets along extremely well with another Aquarius. They're upbeat, free-thinking, and they don't get hurt from the other one's sarcastic sense of humor. Now, if one of the Aquarius' need help, they're probably not going to ask the other one, or anybody else for that matter — an Aquarius would rather do something themselves than have to rely on anybody else.

Two Aquarians together will be able to show their rebellious side without fear of repercussion from the other one, and both are able to embrace change. They may be unpredictable and sometimes downright odd, but they're lovable weirdos. Two Aquarians would just be double the fun.

Aquarius & Pisces

You might think because both Aquarius and Pisces are so creative, so good at giving second chances, and looking for the best in people that they would be compatible, but unfortunately, that's not the case. Aquarius tends to find Pisces' possessiveness exhausting and smothering.

Pisces may understand Aquarius' need for freedom mentally, but it will still hurt Pisces on an emotional level. Aquarius will find Pisces emotional neediness confusing and off-putting. Pisces will feel unloved and unappreciated by Aquarius. Pisces will want a lot more attention and affection from Aquarius than Aquarius will have the capacity to give.

In the end, Aquarius will want Pisces less sensitive and more independent than they are.
