In astrology, there are four essential dignities, or categories, that planets are split into to show whether they operate at their strongest or weakest energies: rulers, exalted, detriment, and fall.
Depending on what sign each planet is in it will either mean greater ease and success or numerous challenges and effort to utilize the energies present.

These placements are determined by the time, location, and date of your birth within your birth or natal chart.
While planets are always shifting signs, the location of a planet within your birth chart does not change because it is based on the exact locations at the specific time of your birth.
Domicile
When a planet is in its ruling sign, it is like it is home.
It is comfortable there and means that the planet and the sign both possess the same qualities and characteristics making it a super-powered energy.
Exalted
When exalted, it means the best possible placement because some different qualities are present, such as grounding or a connection to intuition.
In this case, its energies are magnified allowing you to make the most of the placement and see remarkable success.
However, in others, planets can seemingly not be extraordinarily strong at all and in fact may be the cause for many difficulties in both personal and professional areas.
Detriment
When a planet is in its detriment it means that it is in its opposing sign to the one that rules it.
This means that it is about as far away from home as it can get and feels very challenged here.
It does not like the differences and does not know how to work with them, so its energy is stunted.
Fall
A planet in fall means that the planet is operating at its lowest possible energy.
When a planet is in its fall it likely will not be felt as significant energy in the birth chart and even in your own life, almost feeling like you are missing something everyone else has.

1. Venus
Best Venus signs: Taurus, Libra, and Pisces
Taurus and Libra are the home signs for the planet of love which means that Venus will be operating at its best because it is comfortable with the energies of these two signs. In Pisces, it is exalted, meaning that it is the best possible placement for Venus because it can love exactly as it is meant to.
These placements increase the ease of relationships, financial matters, and overall life enjoyment.
Difficult Venus signs: Scorpio, Aries, and Virgo
Scorpio and Aries are the opposite signs of those that rule Venus which makes them almost automatically the worst possible placement for Venus. This is because the nature of these signs goes against the qualities of this planet instead of working with it, especially Virgo which Venus is in fall in.
Having any of these Venus signs can make love and relationships extremely difficult as well as those matters related to career and finances.
