October is our Blue Moon month, a moment in time so rare we are all being called to pause and reflect so that this time we don’t let fate slip through our fingers.
It’s an active month astrology-wise, with planets turning both retrograde and direct, along with our two Full Moons that serve as bookends for the month ahead.
2020 October Horoscope For Each Zodiac Sign
Many have been wondering when things would start to come together this year, and the October monthly horoscope has plenty of opportunities — you just have to make the choice to seize them.
Aries Love Horoscope
With the first of two Full Moons in Aries occurring in the beginning of the month, along with Mars staked out and in retrograde, it’s an intense month. You may find yourself feeling like you can’t move ahead fast enough, or that every time you do you hit a wall creating frusteration.
Try to get as clear as you can on what you are truly passionate about, so as we near the New Moon in Libra, you will feel grounded in the balance of patience and action.
Taurus Love Horoscope
Taurus, this will be an interesting month. Your energy will dominate the second Full Blue Moon and a rare Halloween transit on the 31st.
Because we will be in Libra season for the majority of the month — the other sign that rules your planet, Venus — you could feel more tuned in. This will be the month for you to finally start feeling like yourself again, confident enough to take risks, especially in your relationships.
Gemini Love Horoscope
Even though there isn’t a lot of other energy that connects to your sign right now, you are feeling that crunch of an impending Mercury retrograde, Gemini. A lot of the energy right now feels heavy, but as we move towards the end of the year, more air energy will come in to help.
Try not to disappear this month or let your boredom get the best of you. If you feel restless in a relationship, communicate it instead of escaping. It will pay off next month.
Cancer Love Horoscope
Cancer, this year has been all about you, and that is nice for once, isn’t it? Just because your sign may not be in the limelight right now doesn’t mean you are out of the woods.

Because the Full Moon at the beginning of the month is in Aries, a fellow fire sign, this energy could likely affect you very strongly, Leo.
While many signs feel heavy this month or as if it’s taking a lot of effort to move forward, you are raring to go. It’s been a long year, and now it will feel like you finally have a green light to speak your truth and be vulnerable to your partner.

Virgo Love Horoscope
With Venus in your sign at the beginning of the month, the focus for you, Virgo, will be on healing the relationship with yourself, and also the one with a romantic partner.

Scorpio Love Horoscope
It’s almost your time, Scorpio, but for now, you are being asked to lay low and just reflect.
Mercury will turn retrograde in your sign this month, which means everyone will be asked to think as deeply as you normally do. But it also means that the darkness and realism you are used to wading through will make others very uncomfortable.

October 2020 Planetary Overview & Major Astrological Transits
Full Moon In Aries: October 1
Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, and the one to initiate or begin things for this very reason. Coming in at the beginning of the month, it will change the energy almost immediately.
There is no waiting for the perfect time; we could wait for years under that guise, so instead we will be more action-orientated. Things will start to happen. Passion will be high, tempers flaring at anyone who tries to restrict us moving ahead, and we can expect big fireworks.
Because Mars is moving through Aries in his retrograde, this Moon could activate that transit as well, so we feel that extra ambition to take strides towards newness along with extra heat in the bedroom.
Venus Moves Into Virgo: October 2
Not known for her overt romantic nature, Virgo in her purest form is one of healing. That is what many love encounters and actions happen this month.
It’s time for us to heal certain wounds once and for all so we can put the past behind us. But since we are seeing changes in the love and romance department, this energy will also afford us the opportunity to make long-lasting stable plans with our lover for the future.
Pluto Turns Direct in Capricorn: October 4
We have spent the past few months looking deep within at the darkness we possess. We redefined what we even consider to be darkness.
There has been ample time to come to terms with some harsh realities about the choices we have made and the masks we have worn up until this point. Now, as Pluto turns direct, it’s time to act on all we have learned.
This is when we align with our truth so our words and actions all come from our most authentic self, just in time for the month when everything is about to change.
Mercury Retrograde In Scorpio: October 13
As if we needed any help speaking our truth, here comes Mercury retrograde in Scorpio, helping us to say all we need to say.
But there is a silver lining to those difficult conversations. Scorpio is the sign of the alchemist, so it’s hard and absolutely life-changing, but it’s more about the transformation of self than just changing our external circumstances.
Scorpio governs our depths, so be prepared to go back to last year to redo some of the choices made that affected all we have learned in the past year. The last time Mercury entered Scorpio was October 3rd, 2019 to December 9th, 2019, which also held a retrograde.
Now is the time to go back, revisit, and make changes, which is part of that redirected energy of 2020.
Super New Moon In Libra: October 16
This is an excellent halfway point between retrogrades and planets turning direct. Because it’s the second of a triad of Super New Moons, it means our beginnings are super-sized as well.
Libra is one of the signs that rules Venus and governs romantic partnerships — not just relationships, but true, balanced partnerships. But she’s also great at figuring out how to agree about the difficult things in life. She can help us find our balance and convey things to those with whom we are trying to create new agreements.
Since many will reestablish themselves in new homes, families, and even careers, this New Moon in Libra will be essential in that cohesiveness of being able to work well together, even if we are no longer together.
Scorpio Season Begins: October 22
Whether we identify as this water sign or not, its deep and transformative nature will affect us all.
Have a look at your complete birth chart, because many of us have this sign represented, even if it’s not our Sun sign. With Mercury already in this sign governing our thoughts and communication, with the Sun entering it means we have our thoughts, words, and actions coming from a place of truth.

Mercury Retrograde Enters Libra: October 27
It’s always fun when a retrograding planet changes signs because it brings in a completely different energy. This is the case with Mercury.
We had a time of truth and darkness, and now it’s time to think about communicating together, working together, and maybe even living together. But Libra wants to help us figure it out because we might not have all the answers.
But as long as we keep speaking that truth that we have stepped into,any partnership we enter into will have greater stability and longevity.
Venus Enters Libra: October 27
Are you sensing a theme here? It’s time to come together. It’s time to put down the excuses, the swords, the battles, or even the fears.
We have had our time of healing this month, more of a frosting on the cupcake type of moment, and now we are ready to lean in and create a partnership that flourishes.
Venus in Libra is exalted; she’s home and she’s in love. But it’s not just a passing fancy and it’s not based in what she wants to be true. No, this time, she’s home to stay, and so are we.
Blue Full Moon In Taurus: October 31
This is the second Full Moon of the month, known as a Blue Moon. This is where that term “once in a Blue Moon” came from, because it hints to the rare astrological event.
The next time we have a Blue Moon isn’t until 2023, so it’s one to enjoy and reap the benefits of. This Moon will help us harvest the seeds that we planted on April 22nd, with the Taurus New Moon.
Taurus is the other ruling sign of Venus, meaning the love energy at the end of this month will feel quite palpable but also grounded in a way than we previous felt. There is a lot of fruition with this Moon, and we can feel the build-up prior to it, knowing that certain things will occur in October that there is no returning from.
Because Taurus is an earth sign, what occurs or changes around this time will be not just be grounded, but also for our benefit. We just have to make sure to not let fear stop us from stepping into our fate.
