Dealing with people who drain you emotionally to the point of abuse is difficult.
Sometimes emotionally abusive people thrive in the havoc they wreak in your life. They enjoy gossiping about you and are an absolute pleasure when you're in pain. They want to be able to control how you feel and love it when you react to them.
Other times, people have no idea about the negative impact that they have on you. You love your bestie to death, but it's emotionally draining to always listen to them complain about the same things for weeks or months. These kinds of people come in more shapes and sizes than you think.
Emotional vampires stop you from growing as a person, and pull you down with their insecurities and constant negativity.
An emotional vampire can be your sibling who never takes responsibility for their situations. It can be a best friend who you try to help after a breakup, but they will keep telling you how everything was everyone else's fault. Your boss can thrive in creating drama in your work-life, manipulating people.
When you're around them, your feelings are out of whack, and concentrating on anything else is impossible because of the toxic environment they create.
Some zodiac signs can actually have more emotionally abusive tendencies than others. If any of these zodiac signs are your lover, friends or family, try to take care of yourself and set plenty of boundaries if you want to hold on to the relationship.
Here are the most abusive zodiac signs who are emotional vampires, ranked from most to least.
1. Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
The last thing you want is to be on Scorpio's bad side. If you say the wrong word to them, they will target you.
Scorpio tries to manipulate you behind the scenes. They will study you and know exactly how to push your emotional buttons. Scorpio will know you so well that they may even convince others (and you) that you're the toxic one!
2. Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Aries will verbally belittle you, saying insensitive things that will get under your skin. Aries won't hesitate to tell you how they feel about you, even if it's harmful to your wellbeing.
Trying to reason with Aries once they become hotheaded is impossible! They suggest that you're too sensitive and tell you that you need to grow a thicker skin.
3. Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Virgo doesn't seem like the type to be overly abusive, but you would be surprised. Virgo's need for perfection can mean that they can be judgmental and excessively critical of those around them.
When you don't do what they want, Virgo has a nasty habit of bringing up everything that's wrong with you, both to you and anyone else who wants to listen.
4. Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
Sagittarius is usually relaxed, but when they are angry, they do carry a deadly arrow that can hit you where it hurts. When they are toxic, they can be overly demanding, pushing their own views on you while disregarding your opinions as if they are inferior.
Sagittarius will belittle your intelligence in front of other people and will try to make it seem as if a lot of them agree.
5. Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
Aquarius can be very controlling, draining you of your energy. When you're with them, Aquarius makes you feel as if you need permission to do anything.
They try to micromanage you because they are sure you don't know what you're doing. They can be incredibly insensitive to other people's feelings. And once they have their eyes on you, Aquarius can be very cruel.
6. Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Cancer is a tremendously emotionally supportive friend, but this crab will throw you off-guard with sudden moodiness. Cancer hides their true feelings most of the time, and can be incredibly passive-aggressive.
When you step accidentally step on an emotional landmine, they will snap at you. They feel that you should know everything that might upset them.
7. Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus can be very forceful when it's their way or the highway.
Taurus isn't usually an emotional vampire, but if you anger them, they won't forget. This bull will be passive-aggressive at every turn, just to prove a point.
8. Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
It's hard to imagine Gemini being toxic, but who they hang around makes a difference.
If they hang around a group of toxic people for too long, they start to become toxic themselves. They will be the in-between person passing out negative gossip to whoever they want, and enjoying the power of having interesting info.
9. Leo (July 23 - August 22)
The lion doesn't mean to harm anyone but can accidentally step on a few toes with their need to be the center of attention. It's always their show, and you're just watching it.
Leo can monopolize the conversation and won't let others speak. They also make a lot of grand promises that they fail to keep. They don't intentionally lie, but it can come off that way.
10. Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorn tends to complain a lot. Without knowing it, they send a bunch of negative vibes your way.
They can be really gloomy because of what may be going on in their life. Capricorn will have some strong opinions about your life direction that you didn't ask for.
11. Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Libra is the one that will try to be fair to everyone.
At their worst, they could be very condescending to people. But they're usually able to balance their energies to not lash out at other people.
12. Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
Pisces is a sensitive soul. Because so much moves their emotions, they try their best to take care of others and not hurt feelings.
But there is a darker side: they know just what to say to make themselves look good. If Pisces wanted to, they could be a master emotional manipulator.
Aside from that, they take everything you say to heart, and it can be very draining depending on your own zodiac sign.
