Get yourself ready for love.

The search for a partner can be emotionally challenging. It can make us feel lonely, disconnected and can mess with our sense of self-worth. And the dreaded question of whether it will EVER work out may persistently eat away at us.

The good news is that we can actually take charge and allow lasting love to enter our lives, but the action may be more subtle than you think.

The Law of Attraction teaches us that we get more of what we focus on. Our feelings are connected to our thoughts.

So if we think negative thoughts about dating, we also feel overwhelmed. As an extension, if we dwell on our overwhelm, we continue to attract more feelings of overwhelm. So it makes sense that if you feel low about dating, it’s difficult to attract a wonderful feeling date.

What can you do to shift this and learn how to use the Law of Attraction to help you find love?

I have found, that practicing gratitude is one of the quickest and easiest ways to shift myself out of a situation of dread.

It allows me to focus on what’s really right in my life and helps me create more energy around that, allowing me to put the Law of Attraction in action.

But what does this really mean in everyday terms?

So for example, as you get out of bed in the morning, you can notice all the things you have in your home that make you feel abundant. Maybe it’s the soft rug that greets your feet as you step out of bed, maybe it’s the rays of sun that hit your bathroom just right as you enter it, or maybe it’s the smell of rich coffee that permeates your kitchen once you get up.

Noticing and feeling grateful for those well-feeling experiences has a tremendous impact. By focusing on them, you create space for more wonderful experiences to enter your life.

As you go on with your day, notice the other things that make your life wonderful: maybe it’s your car that is reliable and takes you to work each day, maybe it’s the co-worker who is always friendly and greets you with a smile, maybe it’s your paycheck.

Keep going with your day, noticing the things you are grateful for and say a silent “Thank you!” to the universe. Observe how your emotions start changing. Generally, the dread disappears, and a sense of well-being settles in.

In order to bring in a love that is lasting, you need to be in a positive vibration.

In fact, your frequency determines what kind of mate you can bring in. In the Law of Attraction, like attracts like.

So if you are looking for a happy, healthy, financially solvent partner, you need to get yourself to that same level. You cannot be depressed, unhealthy and unemployed and think that you will bring a partner into your life who will take care of your issues for you. You vibrate on completely different frequencies and even if you connect, lasting love will be a struggle to maintain.

The good news is, that you are the one in charge of raising your vibration so that you can bring this person into your life. It doesn’t cost money or incredible amounts of time. All it takes is consistent practice and awareness.

Gratitude is a positive energy that can easily elevate your vibration on a daily basis. In my book, Becoming Your Own Knight in Shining Armor, I explain how to make gratitude a daily activity: “In order to keep your gratitude fresh, focus on a different area every day, preferably first thing in the morning and last thing at night so that your day is infused with grateful feelings.

First, start by affirming five to ten items per day in the areas that matter most to you—relationships, of course, and also health, career, spirituality, or whatever else speaks to you.

Once you’ve covered the five to ten items, […] go more in-depth with each one. For example, you’ve given thanks for having the courage to pursue the love of your dreams. Now give thanks for a lesson learned that’s allowed you to gain that courage. With practice, you’ll be able to integrate gratitude into your day as second nature, giving thanks in your mind as you go about your tasks.”

The surprising thing about the Law of Attraction is that you can feel good about anything and it will affect the goals you have set for yourself.

So if you are trying to bring in a lasting relationship, it doesn’t really mean that you have to feel great about dating at all times. It just means that you need to feel good in general as often as you can. Gratitude is your key to keeping your frequency high, day in and day out.
