Life will often surprise us when we least expect it.

On February 15th, the same day as the new moon solar eclipse, we will experience the Mercury-Uranus sextile, giving the one-two punch of change right where we need it most.

Everything in astrology is tied together, so as much as Mercury and Uranus will be creating their own transit, it's part of what we will be feeling with the new moon eclipse as well. This is good news for you, because depending on your zodiac sign, your love horoscope will be full of surprises — good surprises.

Our lives are marked by the moments that we will never forget. We all know that during eclipse season not only is anything possible but it is also guaranteed, and so far that is exactly what we have been getting.

In astrology, a sextile means that two planets are within 60 degrees of one another and work together cooperatively to create something inspiring. And during this particular transit, the new moon and sextile will be working together to not enhance the energies of all and create a spark in time.

In this case, Mercury and Uranus will be the agents — not of the change itself but of being able to communicate and express ideas so that a new course of action can be planned.

Mercury is the planet that rules our aspects of communication with others but also in how we process information for ourselves. Currently this planet is in the air sign of Aquarius, meaning that how we communicate will be very logical and open-minded. Mercury is fast-moving and likes to be kept on his toes; in this process, he isn’t moving too quickly, but rather it’s the idea that we move swiftly when we are certain.

Combined with Uranus who is currently finishing up his last three months in Aries, this means that we are also under the influence of the "go get 'em" attitude that the ram is famous for. Aries is a fire sign and has great self confidence in himself and his choices; he also isn’t one to just talk about what he wants but instead prefers to step out and make the changes that he is currently seeking.

Together with Mercury, this means that we are going to be thinking and acting very quickly — not just in our lives, but specifically in our love lives.

During this new moon we have a heavy influence of Juno, the goddess of marriage and fertility, so there is some aspect of our lives that will be tied to domestic matters in which we are going to receive some surprises. Right away we think of pregnancy announcements, and while we could see an influx of them from the end of February into April,we could truly be seeing some big changes or developments within other areas of our love lives that Juno governs.

As we’ve said, this is a time for new beginnings and change, and while we can often think about the change we want to make, or even be influenced by the new moon to create a new beginning in our lives, we also need communication and the drive to act upon our thoughts to actually manifest the changes we hope to create.

It’s said that we need to go with the flow in life and perhaps we don’t really need to make any choices or decisions; rather, all we need to do is release ourselves to the universe and go where we are directed. While there is some truth to this statement, if we don’t participate in the creation of our life, then how are we going to feel invested in it?

To live is a gentle balance of letting go and stepping up. There is a time to go with the flow and there is also the time for us to make choices, decisions, and to participate in the creation of the life that we hope to live.

This may mean speaking up where our partners are concerned if we feel that we are living a life that isn’t connected to our purpose, or maybe it is that we decide that we can’t do life without that special person by our sides, and we hope to team up together and take the world on. Whatever it may mean, the end result is surprising change.

Unfortunately, change isn’t always pretty, so there are no promises that this means only a plethora of baby and wedding announcements. This could mean breakups, divorce initiations, or separations.

We don’t experience these life events because of astrology, but like a pressure cooker, they do tend to help matters come to a head that were already on their way there anyway.

The important thing to remember during this Mercury-Uranus sextile is that anything that comes together or even falls apart during the eclipse season is meant to be that way. It doesn’t mean that our hearts won’t feel like they are breaking or that we have to spend time healing, but it does mean that we can’t chase or force anything that is trying to leave.

Those parts of our lives that truly are meant for us  whether it’s a partner, marriage, pregnancy or job — will come to us, perhaps not with complete ease but never will it involve banging on a closed door.

Sometimes, we don’t all know what we want or what is best for us. That’s why we often have to understand that just because we want life to go a certain way, it doesn’t mean that it is meant to go that way. The thing with change is that it will happen one way or another; either we’re leading the charge or we’re being dragged behind.

During this transit and new moon, it’s important to let life show us the way and adjust our plans accordingly. After all, life will always surprise us in the moment we least expect it.
