"I am in love with Rayya. And I have no more time for denying that truth."

Remember that book everyone couldn’t stop talking about? No, not 50 Shades of Grey. The other one! Eat, Pray, Love? That was written by none other than Elizabeth Gilbert.

If you didn’t read the book, maybe you saw the movie starring Julia Roberts?

Either way, Elizabeth Gilbert has lead a fascinating life.

Fun tidbit: Did you know the movie Coyote Ugly was loosely based on her life when she first started out in New York? How cool is that?!

But now, she’s moving on to a new phase.

In a post dated September 7th, she revealed that she's in a same-sex relationship with her best friend, fellow writer Rayya Elias.

If you follow Elizabeth Gilbert, you know that in July, she announced she was separating from her husband, Jose Nunes, for “very personal reasons.” Well, now we know what those reasons are! And honestly, we couldn’t be happier for her.

We just wish it was under better circumstances. In the post, Gilbert explains how Elias was diagnosed with cancer, and like every good friend, she went into full support mode, but it was only then did she realize her love went beyond friendship; she was in love

“But something happened to my heart and mind in the days and weeks following Rayya's diagnosis. Death — or the prospect of death — has a way of clearing away everything that is not real, and in that space of stark and utter realness, I was faced with this truth: I do not merely love Rayya; I am in love with Rayya. And I have no more time for denying that truth. The thought of someday sitting in a hospital room with her, holding her hand and watching her slide away, without ever having let her (or myself!) know the extent of my true feelings for her ... well, that thought was unthinkable.”

Here is the full Facebook post, because only Elizabeth Gilbert can share her love so eloquently.
