Put away something for a rainy day or spend it while you have it?

I worked for a bank for many years in the statement department. I helped people reconcile their bank statements, researched missing funds, and helped them when they had problems.
Because of my time in banking, I’m very good about knowing what’s going on with my bank accounts and I can usually tell you the balance on my accounts to the penny. I don’t miss much when it comes the accounting portion of my money but I’m still not good at handling my money in a grown-up and practical way.

I’m better than I was when I was just starting out, but I could be much better. I still seem to be on the “spend it until it’s gone” way of handling money.
It’s not that I’m constantly buying items that I don’t need. No, I’m spending my money on practical things like utilities, mortgage, and insurance. But as far as putting money away for that rainy day, I suck.
My friend, V on the other hand, is amazing with money. She lives in a modest apartment in a beach community but owns two houses in another state. It’s not that she inherited money or that she’s a billionaire, or even that she makes a six-figure income, she's just talented money-wise. She makes excellent decisions when it comes to what she invests in and she knows when to save and when to take a chance.

I wonder what it is that makes us handle money so differently and if our zodiac signs have anything to do with it. You want to have enough money to do the things you want to do without stress. You just need to practice patience and not make foolhardy decisions when it comes to your spending. Do the research first and look at if you can afford to buy those designer shoes right now.

You're amazing at bartering for something you want. It doesn't matter if you're at a souk in Morocco or at a local car dealership. You don't want to pay more than you want and you will wait until you get the price you want.
This is one instance where your natural stubbornness comes in handy. If you can't get a discount, you'll find some way to get something extra. However, you don't have to fight over every single thing you buy; it wastes energy and sometimes it's just not worth it.

GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)

You're all about impulse "I want it now" spending. If you see something, you don't wait to see if there are better deals; you need to purchase it. It would be good for you to put yourself on a budget and track your spending.
Once you become more aware of how much money is going out, you'll probably won't be so free with your money. If you want to invest, put your money into the kind of investments that aren't easy to dip into. You want the kind that you can leave alone and forget about.

When it comes to money, you know how to set financial goals for yourself and you have a good balance between spending for necessities and the occasional splurge. While you're fairly good with your money, no outstanding credit card debt or student loans, you do tend to overindulge yourself with material items from time to time. You don't have much of a financial cushion but you live well.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)

You're on point when it comes to making, saving, investing, and spending money. You have a nearly perfect credit score and almost no personal debt. You try not to lend money to other people or invest in things that non-financial people may recommend. But with enough praise, you'll go against your better instincts and give a friend a loan.
You're creative, so the next time someone comes to you wanting money, you try to help them to come up with other options than draining your bank account.

Just like with most things, you're passionate when it comes to your money and, luckily, making money seems to come easily for you. You like total control over your money and it's extremely difficult for you to part with any of it. You'll go without if you must. You don't need to deprive yourself for a secure financial foundation, so try to loosen up a little and treat yourself once and a while.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)

You like to go with the flow and you tend not to get too involved with your finances, which can bite you in the ass. You can be easy going and still be mindful of your finances. In fact, when your finances are in a good place, and you've done the planning and goal-setting, you're freer to do the things you want to do.
Being overdrawn at the bank and having no financial cushion can take all the fun out of any situation. They say that Sagittarians have a gambling streak and it's definitely not a good idea to gamble away your savings.

You have a gift for saving money but you tend to obsess over how much you've saved. You think nothing of waiting until something is at rock bottom pricing, no matter if the item is no longer trendy.
It's great that you're on top of your money and can account for it, but there are other things in life than making and saving money. No one is suggesting that you become irresponsible or that you spend your money on something foolish, just that relax a little bit where money is concerned.
