getty There are people who throw caution to the wind almost everyday, and there are those who are reticent about simply leaving the house. Either way, there is something inside us that allows us to go all the way to the edge of the precipice, where we will take the leap of faith or back off.
Not everything reads as reckless to a person. Say, for instance, you see a person riding on a motorcycle without a helmet. That is reckless. However, that person may feel so confident that they're not going to crash and have their head shredded on asphalt, they throw caution to the breeze and hop on that hog.
As for astrology, which we can use as a guide to our personality traits and reactions to situations, the stars can helpful when determining the reckless zodiac signs.
Hubris is what drives the reckless person, and though we might not all be as brave as to toss caution aside, it is hubris that makes us say that famous line, "It can't happen to me." It might not, but then again, it might. We all have a touch of recklessness, whether we like it or not.
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Sending letters of revenge. Oh, this sign is the all about revenge, humiliating their enemies and making sure lives are ruined. Aries is the one who writes the wife of the husband that cheated, letting the wife know and share the pain of betrayal.
Aries spares no mercy; if they hurt, they recklessly take us all down with the ship.
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Drugs, alcohol, food. Taurus truly thinks they're the exception. Death may or may not smile upon them, so while they're alive, why not indulge in everything that hurts the human body, right?
Taurus will try heroin in their teens. They call it fearlessness, but, in truth, it's just hubris — the idea that "nothing bad ever happens to me."
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
This sign's most reckless action is in non-action. They just figure everything will turn out alright, even if they don't participate in making it right. Lazy and confused, Gemini goes with the flow... and it always backfires.
There is no greater regret than the one that is experienced at the end of a Gemini's life, when they realize they've done nothing. They recklessly waste their time all their lives.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
This sign tosses friends out in the same manner they throw out the trash. They are so lacking in forgiveness that they end up recklessly ruining all their relationships.
It truly is "my way or the highway" with Cancer, and their most reckless trait is the one where they waste the time of others who they will use, abuse and toss out the window.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Leo is the stunt person who takes on an enormous feat just because they can. They love the thrill of a physical challenge, and you'll find them repelling off the sides of mountains.
They are invincible in their minds, and that can be truly problematic, as their recklessness knows no bounds. They will take that risk, and that's not always such a good thing.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Bad choices. Nobody makes 'em like Virgo. Whether it's going under the knife to get beautified, or it's crash dieting and fasting for a year straight, Virgo recklessly destroys their body on a daily basis.
Tattoos may be gorgeous, but it's the Virgo who will tattoo their face one day, thinking it a grand idea, only to regret the move for the rest of their lives. Reckless self-harm — that's Virgo.
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Because it's hard for Libra to be honest, they play the middle line all the time, and what ends up happening is that their deeply ingrained cowardice ends up giving them nothing they wanted.
They are so non-committal that they end up alone, lonely and wondering what went wrong. They reckless play the middle, and because of that, they get nothing.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpio is a reckless dreamer. Great, big thoughts of the future start to turn into a life not lived in the present. Regret kicks in as they get older.
Their lives are spent in hope for a great future, while everything and everyone in their life gets neglected. Scorpio recklessly wastes time not being present.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
This sign always believes in themselves to the point where maybe they shouldn't. What that means is that Sagittarius feels confident about whatever task they take on, but the truth is, they're rarely equipped or knowledgeable on what's needed in order to accomplish this task.
Big show-offs, this sign recklessly takes on projects they can never complete.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
More nasty letter writers. While being noble activists, Capricorn will often times go a little too far with their cause, meaning they will hurt others who get in their way. Believing it's "for the cause," they reckless burn through friendships without a care.
This sign is all business, and if you don't agree with them on every level, you are recklessly abandoned and left behind. That's Capricorn.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
This sign trusts their instincts... to a fault. This means that if they are true to themselves, nothing else matters. While that sounds like a good thing, and it is, Aquarius is also known to backstab friends, spread lies and start rumors, recklessly.
They forget that things like consequences exist, and often times end up frustrated and alone, as no one wants to be with a person who is "that nasty."
PISCES (February 19 - March 10)
Pisces recklessly takes on enormous projects simply to impress others. They are so obsessed with the opinions and kudos of other people that they get more caught up in the praise than in the execution of the project itself.
Family dinner for 25? Pisces offers to cook it all — a reckless move that inevitably ends in tears, angst and an inferiority complex for not doing the job.
