pexels Why do people fear change? Sometimes change feels like a form of rejection and when it's forced on you, it seems as though there's a hidden message that you aren't loved and unwanted.
Even positive changes, the ones that you take control of and look forward to have a taste of the bittersweet. You might have searched forever to change jobs, and when the time comes to turn in your resignation, fear, doubt and worry rush in making you wonder if what you thought was a good thing is actually a mistake.
You might WANT to change your luck, relationship status, or where you live or what you do for a living. Trying to make something different happen than what you're used to doing takes time and effort.
Like the seasons of time, you are changing in a new way each day. When you were a kid, time flew fast and you grew up into an adult. In that respect, change is growth and it's also maturity.
When you left a relationship you knew was toxic, that was tough, too, but learning that you could heal and find love once again made it all worthwhile, didn't it? When you fall in love with someone and later realize that they aren't happy, it's heartbreaking. Those situations are harder to accept and the mind and heart resist change when it feels negative like that.
There are certain personality traits that make it tough for a person to warm up to a new way of life. And, astrology describes those character traits by zodiac sign. Psychology describes the process of change as a series of six phases: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance, and termination.
In the first phase, precontempation, you aren't aware that something new is coming up, but if you're intuitive, you might dream about it or sense it in your bones.
The second phase, contemplation, is when you will think about it and perhaps start to make plans to take action, which is the preparation phase; change is inevitable and now it's time to look forward to it. You can't go back to who you once where.
The last four phases of change feel like they move rapidly once action takes place. Then, you maintain as you adjust and then let go of the past and move on to your new life. How often you seek change has a lot to do with your personality, and in astrology, the type of zodiac sign you are.
Cardinal, mutable, or fixed, each horoscope sign does something when things are no longer meant to stay the same. Some zodiac signs initiate change (Aries, Libra, and Capricorn). Other horoscopes adapt and find new things exciting (Gemini, Libra, and Pisces).
If you're a Scorpio, you might view change as something to explore and dig into to understand the why. If you're intuitive like Cancer, you may sense it before it even happens... light years ahead of your time.
Analytical approaches to new ways of doing things come easily for Sagittarius or Aquarius. And, even if you don't believe in horoscopes, zodiac signs or astrological phenomena, there's a way to view how you approach what will no longer be.

ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries, even though you hate when life is boring, and love a good challenge you learn to regret change that you've not planned out. Your fault is that you can be overly optimistic thinking that things will work out for you.
You can resist the consequences of change if you think they are unfair and not what you signed up for when you made decisions. You attempt to reverse change, but you are also quick to accept your choices and move on.
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus, you are really not about change unless you have a plan. When a person in your life makes too many changes without warning it can upset you. You prefer things to remain predictably the same. You prefer to build. Change often means you have to tear down what you've worked hard to put together, and you would rather salvage than destroy.
You are one of the most resistant-to-change of the zodiac signs. Even though you do adapt when needed, in your heart you will often want to know if change was worth it. And if it involved a relationship that meant a lot to you, the answer often will be hard for you to accept.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
Gemini, you embrace change. You are often one who thrives in new environments. Changes are a lot easier for you to handle than others. In fact, too much of the same for too long may feel like a negative. You want to grow each day so learning new things makes you open to trying new things.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancer, you're smart enough to know that change is a part of life. You might not like it but you do see that it's useful and have used it to your benefit many times over. When you do resist change, you do so because you are buying time to plan. You prefer to have a strong idea of what to expect so you are ready to make an unfamiliar situation work as quickly as possible.
To the people who don't know you well, it can seem like you're not interested in doing something new, but that's untrue. You resist change if it doesn't make sense. If it makes sense, you might even lead the way.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Leo, change means adding more responsibility that you prefer to take on unless it's positive. You are in the middle when it comes to change. You neither hate it or rush towards making it. You would prefer that things stay the same but if they can't you do adjust, but mentally you need time to process what happened, and why, and how you can avoid the bad parts of the new situation.
In fact, too many changes taking place all at the same time can stop you dead in your tracks and retreat. It's hard to image that the most courageous of the zodiac signs is actually timid when life takes too many turns. You like to calculate your moves, so it's really important that you feel like change is something you expect.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgo, you only like change when it's helpful, healthy or makes sense. If it doesn't, you actually will try very hard to make whatever plans that affect your life stop dead in its tracks. You may weigh pros and cons of change on a mental scale. If you think that what someone else will do will not only hurt you but others, you won't just resist change, you will make everyone else miserable until they decide it's not a good idea at all.
When change is positive, you give your blessing. You'll even help to make whatever needs to happen, happen.
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Libra, you don't mind change but, well, you prefer to make changes when necessary. There's nothing more that you dislike than drama. Change can look like drama to you. If someone is making too many changes, you might wonder what their problem is and try to listen, but you don't like to be the 'fixer'. That is too much of an energy drain for you.
In fact, change means expending energy. It doesn't matter if it's a pro or a con, if you choose it or if something new was spured on by you. Change means you have to give up your energy, and for that reason, you won't resist, but you also won't push for it until the right time.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpio, you expect change. In fact, if people say they never change or situations can't change, you think that's odd and want to find out the truth. You don't resist change because that would be like a form of death for you.
You are intrigued by the mystery of life and the psychology of the human experience. Your actually are someone who is a change-maker and helps people to discover something within themselves that they hadn't seen before. So, for this reason, you don't like when things change because it's inconvenient, but you welcome it anyway.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Sagittarius, life without change is something you would prefer not to even think about. However, you don't really have too much time for change unless it means gaining something back in return.
Changes have to do with your mood and the right timing. If you think the timing is off, and it's not necessary for you to be involved, you hightail yourself out of the scenario. When things start to resettle, you may come around again but even then, you don't want to know the details unless it involves you.
When you seek to make change, you do so with a lot of forethought. Change needs to be controlled, and if it's not, you will not let it control you.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorn, your ruling planet is Saturn, and that means at the core of who you are you aren't exactly fond of change, but if it's necessary, you will do it however painful it may be. To you change is like living out a type of death. You are aware that you are letting go of one chapter in life and moving to a new one.
Do you like change? No. Does that mean you'll try to stop it? No, but you also will do whatever it takes to learn from the experience as you move on.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
You actually aren't afraid of change, and prefer to have it than for things to stay the same all of the time. You see change from an analytical perspective. When it happens to you, you step outside of yourself and examine the situation.
The part of change that you resist the most is the emotional aspect of it. You don't really know why, but change makes you nervous. Call it excitement or anxiety, you just have intense feelings when it comes to drastic life changes.
PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
Pisces, you love change, and often you wonder why it is you change so much. You adapt to the energy around you and for that reason you might not even realize things have changed until it's too late. You don't really hate change, and you don't really love it.
You cherish each moment and memory as time passes by. Change to you is part of the spiritual journey and for that reason, even when change brings you to tears, you are open to the reality that this is what it means to be alive.
