Apparently, Markle has chef Ina Garten to thank.

Some men propose with views of the ocean. Some propose over candlelit dinners. Prince Harry proposed to Meghan Markle over a roasted chicken.

While at first glance this may not seem like the most romantic way to ask someone to spend the rest of their life with you, it's actually not as uncommon as you think. It's called Engagement Roast Chicken, and apparently, Ina Garten is to blame.

As the story goes, Prince Harry and Meghan were in the middle of roasting a chicken when he popped the big question. Something celebrity chef Ina Garten is happy to take responsibility for.

Garten came up with the recipe for 'engagement chicken' and tweeted the following the day after the announcement was made.

"Congratulations to Prince Harry and Meghan," the tweet reads. "I always knew roast chicken had magic powers!! I'm so happy for both of you!"

Sounds like there might be a secret love potion in this chicken. And it sounds like Meghan was well aware of what it was capable of when she suggested what they had for dinner.

In a 2016 interview with Good Housekeepingthe actress revealed that she was a fan of the recipe.

When asked if she cooks, Markle answered with the following:

"There is nothing as delicious (or as impressive) as a perfectly roasted chicken. If you have an Ina Garten–level roasted-chicken recipe, it's a game changer. I bring that to dinner parties and make a lot of friends."

Dinner parties, getting your royal boyfriend to propose to you, tomato, tomoto, right?

Well cooking the dish was apparently a good idea because it not only led her to become a part of the royal family, but it's also one of his favorite meals.

“I thought it was so great because it shows that everyone is happy to have something simple, and really good,” Garten told PEOPLE. “It’s nourishing and I love that they were cooking it together. It wasn’t some fancy meal. He did it over a home-cooked meal and a simple roast chicken, which is frankly what everybody wants.”
