Mercury moves into Pisces
Love, Zodiac

It’s time to speak from our hearts, not our minds.

On February 17th, Mercury moves into Pisces, opening our minds, and more importantly, our hearts. When a planet changes zodiac signs, its purpose and mission changes as well, and for this planet that rules communication, it means that it’s time to stop overthinking and begin to feel instead, which is great news for your love horoscope.

It doesn’t matter whether we are a man or woman — it’s hard for all of us to be connected to our hearts enough to operate from them in an authentic and beautiful way. It’s not easy to open ourselves deeply enough to risk being hurt by the person that we love more than anything in this world.

But the alternative is that if we don’t try, we won’t ever know what love is truly capable of either. And Mercury in Pisces not only changes everything, but it also arrives at precisely the right time.

Since the first of the eclipses rattled us at the end of January, we have been thrown through the loop of self-reflection, not just about where we currently are but also where we are headed. For the past few weeks, we’ve attempted to figure out life in every which way and then some, and through it nothing has gotten any clearer, somehow we feel more confused than when we started 2018.

It’s not that we shouldn’t be spending time contemplating life or even what we want from it, but the lesson in all of this is that we need to stop thinking with our heads and start feeling with our hearts. Our logical minds can only get us so far when it comes to love.

On the 15th, we will see a new moon and other planetary aspects all tied heavily to commitment of some sort — marriage, partnerships and childbirth. Just a few days later, Mercury moves into Pisces, changing how we communicate in both our existing and new relationships, from the logical and rational to the intuitive and the heart-centered, which are two specialties of Pisces.

In relationships, we need a balance of both love and logic. It’s always said that love isn’t logical and perhaps those first fluttering feelings aren’t the choice to continue on and build a relationship. We can love someone deeply but choose to not pursue a relationship with them; we can always choose to do nothing with the love that is felt.

Sometimes it seems that we’re sold this overly romanticized version in which two people fall in love and somehow the rest of life just falls into place. Yet, just because two people are together, it doesn’t mean they are in love, and just because two people feel love, it doesn’t mean they’ll ever be together.

There are no rules when it comes to love except that it will change our lives forever regardless of what happens. The only decision we have to make is whether we are going to let it lead us, or whether we’re going to cut its corners until it fits the space that we have for it. The thing with love is that it’s us who ruins it by not letting it just be what it is.

Mercury in Pisces doesn’t overthink situations; she’s calm, relaxed, and more likely to let it flow into whatever it is meant to be. Mercury in Pisces likes to dream, take her time, and follow her heart. Any communication takes on a beautiful stance, or at the very least more empathetic and emotional.

Pisces is deep; there are no limits, no ends, and because this is how Pisces loves, it’s also how we communicate when Mercury transits her sign. Our minds want to traverse our own and our partner’s depths; we want to go deeper than ever before, and to think outside the box and outside the realm of possibility.

Mercury in Pisces knows no limits. As far as relationships go, after our two-week eclipse window has come to a close leaving more unanswered questions than ever before, this transit will help us see answers we never conceived of before, which is why it’s exactly what we need. The same old thinking hasn’t worked; there are still issues or situations that we are working through but haven’t been able to see a way out of them until now.

Mercury will be in Pisces' depths and openness until the beginning of March, and during this time we will likely see resolutions to situations and problems that have plagued us for months, if not years. While this planet transits through this sign more regularly than others, it doesn’t often occur during eclipse season, especially with the current astrological weather.

There was a reason we weren’t meant to figure things out until now; perhaps it was that we just weren’t ready, or maybe all the pieces hadn’t collided, or we hadn’t gotten to the point where we were seeking answers. This might have to do with a real world situation like moving in and combining households, or the blending of families.

But it also might have to deal with us being honest with ourselves about who we are and what love really is to us.

Maybe we weren’t sure what we wanted from a relationship or from that special person in our lives, so we took our time, or maybe we rushed ahead and made a mess of things. But either way, the water was still muddy.

Sometimes all it takes is just one moment for us to sit back, let the water clear, and see what was always there to begin with. And this time, we won’t be seeing with our minds, but instead with our hearts. And that will make all the difference.
