Love After Tragedy: Boston Marathon Victim Proposes To His Nurse

James Costello Engagement Ring

The best love story you'll read all day.

You know we love a good love story. And today's heartwarming tale is a good one, so grab the tissues.

April 15, 2013 was supposed to be one of the most exciting days of James Costello's life, but it ended up taking a turn for the worse when he crossed the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

After two bombs exploded, James suffered both physical and emotional injuries. You may even remember the famous picture of him walking away from the horrific explosions, burned and in shredded clothing. He was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he had several surgeries, and eventually he was taken to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. But little did he know he'd meet the love of his life on the road to recovery.

Krista D'Agostino was one of James's nurses. It turned out they had some friends in common but had never met before. After several conversations with the beautiful nurse, James asked Krista to attend a benefit with him. The duo dated and then spent a "few inseparable months" together, according to wcvb.com.

Then this week, during the Boston Marathon Heroes Cruise for the Marathon survivors, he proposed to Krista in France and shared this sweet note with a picture of the gorgeous engagement ring on his Facebook page.

"I now realized why I was involved in the tragedy, it was to meet my best friend, and the love of my life."

Congrats to James and Krista!
