About the Gauthiers

I've been married three times, but this is the first time I've actually been in love. It's amazing, that love thing. The way I try to sum up what Patrick and I have is this:

I never realized how unhappy I was until I met him and found true happiness.

When my husband and I met, it was under less-than-desireable circumstances. We were both just coming off drug addictions. We were living in a homeless shelter (he lived downstairs, I was on the second floor). We both came out of bizarre relationships. Neither of us was looking for a partner. At the time, we were just trying to survive. Then I bought these gold boots.

I was going to a job interview at an upscale club (as a bartender) at a local casino. I had this cool gold and brown silk dress and these funky gold knee high boots. I figured it was a good look for the job I was after, so I went with it.

I walked down the stairs and I heard a voice from the porch say, "Wow, you look NICE!" I jumped half out of my skin and when I turned around I saw this guy. He had crazy, spiky, David Bowie blond hair, and a sexy smile. Of course, my mother raised me with some manners, so I said "thanks" and told him I was going to a job interview. He wished me luck and told me to stop by his door and let him know how it went.

I didn't get the job. But I did stop by and talk to the cute guy downstairs. I had a birthday party to go to that night, and I asked if he wanted to go. He did. We danced all night and had the most fun I had ever had up to that point. We've been together since. Nice love story, right? You don't know the half of it......

As we dated and lived together and got to know each other, we learned alot about each other. We've been together over a year, and we STILL learn new things about each other, because we talk all the time. I have three daughters, he has one. We faced the age-old dilemma of a blended family. We lucked out. Our kids get along great, and they all love us. We don't have step-family drama. We say often, like my step-father once told me, "the only steps in this house are the ones that lead to the front door!"

The kids, in age order are: Tiffany, 21; Rebecca, 18; Danielle, 16; Sina, 15. Tiffany and Rebecca are both married, to Rusty and Travis, respectively. And then there is Travis Jr. My little man, the crown prince, our grandson. He is the real boss around here!

Tiffany and Rusty are in Ft Hood in Texas, as Rusty is an Army man. Rebecca and Travis and Travis Jr are in Springfield, MA. Danielle and Sina are right here in CT. We also have a Sugar Glider named Gizmo.

Now you know a little about us.

Over the next few months, I will tell you some fun (and not-so-fun) stories that will get you through our life up until this point. In October/November, you will get to join us on our first vacation together, a road trip from CT to CA. We have planned other trips and even a cruise oncewe've finished this expedition.

I hope to entertain you with our travels and our stories. You will laugh and cry, because some of the stuff I will share with you is hysterical, and some of it is quite touching and even sad. My goal is to share the blessings in my life with other people. I want you to know that you may not know how great your life can be until you actually get a chance to live it!

So, put on your seat belt and get ready for the ride of your life!
