For me, the ideal date is the date that calls ahead to cancel, but that's just me. For others, however, the list of criteria may go on and on. And for some, what might be considered ideal would be the idea of the other person actually showing up.
Depending on what you want out of a first date, your list could be terrifically simple, or calculated and complicated. There's a good chance you fall somewhere in between. And we're not all looking for the same qualities in a date because depending on what zodiac sign we were born under, first date ideas range greatly.
While you'd think that perhaps all fire signs are after getting you to bed, you'd be right. But then again, that's what all air, water, and earth signs are after too. Well then, we'd better get specific. According to astrology, what makes for the ideal first date?
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
After you've established if sex is going to be had, and when, you then can relax and look for the other qualities you might want in an ideal first date. As a hot-blooded warrior, you definitely want a challenge, a chase and a victory.
Your ideal date is someone you feel you could hold prisoner, perhaps in a specialized dungeon of your own creation.
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
You, like Aries, love sex, and sex is what makes a first date ideal to you. After that's been established — that you will be sleeping together on the first date — there's the second date to consider, which will have more emphasis on... well, sex. Which makes for a great third date too.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
After thoroughly vetting your future first date, you size them up, figure out their every weakness, and after you agree to meet them, you don't show up... because that's who you are. In charge and ready to break hearts.
Your ideal first date is the perfect person who doesn't exist.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Your ideal first date must be the polar opposite of the last person who broke your heart, which means you have some impossibly high hoops for someone else to jump through to prove themselves to you.
Ideally, if they do prove themselves on date #1, you will more than likely fall in love, all over again.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Crucial to having an ideal date is finding the right person who will listen to you, pay attention to you, and ask for very little in return. An ideal first date for you, Leo, is an audience of one — enrapt, worshipful, ready.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
You've already left before you've even arrived, and that is how dating is for you. Ideal? Sure, you want ideal, but ideal doesn't exist, so you might as well go into it with murder on the mind and hate in your heart.
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
You have one concern only when you are looking for that ideal first date: you want your person to believe you, no matter what.
You are looking for a co-conspirator, an ally, someone who will have your back, even when you're wrong. You want an idiot, and only a true self-hating moron will do.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Sex on a first date is ideal. Sex on a second date is unnecessary if there is no sex on the first date, mainly because there will be no second date for the Scorpio who doesn't get sex on the first date.
You've heard about the lusty sexual appetites of Scorpio? Yeah, well, it's true. Be prepared.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
The ideal first date for a Sagittarius is someone who can prove they are not a royal bore. Sag really wants imagination and stimulation; they have no patience for "regular" or "normal."
The ultimate ideal date for Sagittarius would be with a person who thinks they're an alien and wants to go back home to their planet soon.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
You have a fantasy of going out on a first date with someone that is wild, free and as crazy as you wish you were yourself. However, you will only be looking for what is conventional and "normal" in a first date.
You dream of wild and crazy, but you prefer someone predictable.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
Your ideal first date would be covert, secret and possibly done with adulterous motives. You don't like to date unless there's a threat involved and, ideally, your date would be married, ready to destroy their marriage for you, and vulnerable enough to believe any promise you make.
PISCES (February 19 - March 10)
Your ideal first date does it all, as you rest and let them take the wheel. You dream of a day when you don't have to always be the one in control. Oh, how nice it would be if someone else could be the one to do all the work!
