What Is Numerology & How To Find Your Life Path Number
Zodiac

Numerology is a study of numbers and how they fit into our lives. Like astrology, numerology is another way to learn about the world around us and ourselves as individuals in a spiritual way.

When you think of the Universe and everything in it, it seems a little chaotic, right? But when you strip everything down to its most basic identity, it all comes down to numbers.

So, in a spiritual sense, numbers are the answer to everything. Whether you know it or not, you (just like everyone else) already find meaning in numbers. Birthdays, anniversaries, lucky numbers – they all mean something to you, right?

Numerology is the same. We as people already depend on numbers for so many things in our lives.

With Numerology, you have a chance to take those numbers that already have meaning and use them to learn more about who you are as a person and what your role in the world is.

The importance of numbers in everyday life is credited to Pythagoras, the Greek philosopher who changes the way we use numbers in the modern world today. When it comes to the study of numerology, it isn’t just how numbers present themselves in our lives that is important.

It’s also about connecting the unique personality of each number to individuals to help them understand their life’s purpose. You can think of individual numbers and numerology as a whole as guides to help you stay on the life path created for you by the Universe.

When you pay attention to how numbers manifest themselves in your life, you may notice patterns or trends that are there to help you learn more about what your purpose is on this earth.

While there are a few different ways you can use numbers to illuminate your future and your personality, some of the most popular uses for numerology are to find your destiny number, soul number, and life path number.

Why are life path numbers important?

Some say that your life path number is the most important number to know because it is what best helps you understand who you are and what kind of life you are meant to lead.

Putting significance on the important numbers in your life can bring meaning to the experiences you’ve had in your life, as well as what your future holds for you.

Think of numerology as being similar to astrology. In astrology, each planet has significance in the Universe and in your life.

In order to learn more about who you are as an individual and what life has in store for you, you have to use your birth chart to discover which planets have the most significance and importance in your life.

We often rely most heavily on our Sun signs to describe our personalities, but humans are so much more complex than we give ourselves credit for. Each planet needs to be taken into account when learning more about yourself.

In the same way, numerology relies on the use of all numbers to help us discover who we are and what our importance is in the Universe.

Even though you may only use one number at a time, remember that there will be significant numbers for significant experiences throughout your life, all of which will rely on certain numbers.

How are numerology and astrology different from one another?

Numerology and astrology are similar in other ways, as well. Just because a planet or a number is prominent in your birth chart or life doesn’t mean it’s always positive.

Numerology can be challenging because it’s up to you to figure out if the placement of a certain number is a positive or a negative one, just like the planets. Right now, you might be asking yourself, “What is the difference between astrology and numerology?” Basically, numerology is a companion to astrology.

You can think of numerology as a way to enhance the information you’ve learned about yourself through astrology.

For example, I am an Aquarius with the Life Path Number 9, so I am a humanitarian who likes to fight for others.

Of course, I may also have a narrow sense of thinking, where I believe that my view is the only right one in a situation.

Because of this, it’s up to me to use this new-found information to either lock myself into a narrow world view or actively choose to influence change.

How to calculate your life path number:

To find your Life Path Number, you can use this calculator or do it yourself.

If you want to practice it on your own, you'll need to add all the numbers your birth date (MM/DD/YYYY) until you get to one singular number.

So for example, if you were born January 1, 2019, you would add up each number to get 1, 1, and 12. Add those to get 14. Then, add 1 and 4 to get 5, your Life Path Number. Pretty easy, right?

Of course, there are also what are known as Master Numbers, which are 11, 22, and 33. When calculating your Life Path Number, you do not want to reduce these numbers at any point.

So for example, if you were born on the 11th or 22nd of the month, you would not add 1 and 1 or 2 and 2 to get a reduced number.

Additionally, if you were born in 1993, you would not reduce 1+9+9+3, which is 22, to get 4.

Instead, you would continue to add the rest of the numbers in your birth date to the Master Number until reduced to one number.

So, if you were born on March 7, 1993, you would add each number to get 3, 7, and 22. Then, you would add those up to get 32. Then add 3+2 to get 5.

Master Numbers are very significant and influential in the Universe. Because they have such powerful qualities attributed to them, it can be more challenging to master them and integrate them into your personality than the rest of the numbers.

When it comes to reading your Master Number, it’s important to read about your Life Path Number as well because it is the foundational energy that defines your life purpose.

In other words, you can’t have 11 without 1, 22 without 2, or 33 without 3, so that number is just as important as your Master Number.

Now that you know a little more about numerology, learn how to see numbers, patterns, and recurring numbers in your life with more significance. You never know what the Universe may be telling you.
