How The Zodiac Signs Comfort Others
They're there for you when you need it most.
getty When the people we love are grieving or are in emotional turmoil, we want to comfort them. But comfort, like anything else, varies greatly from one person to the next. Knowing how to comfort someone can be very different.
Each zodiac sign in astrology has their own way of comforting others. Some may seem as if they don’t need comforting and think that whatever problem or crisis they’re going through, they’re able to handle on their own. It’s up to you whether to honor their wishes or try to comfort them anyway.
When you’re going through something, it may be difficult to know what you want or need, and it helps to know that someone is there supporting you and ready to help you. But sometimes the best way that we can comfort others is to make sure they feel safe and try to take away the tension they feel.
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries comforts others by being a true friend, and they're there for the person who is hurting, day and night. Aries makes sure they will do whatever is needed to help them out.
If the person needs to get out of the house, Aries will go with them; if they need to let off steam by ranting, Aries will listen. This zodiac sign will be the one-person support group their loved one needs to feel comforted.
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus use their patience to comfort others. They don't rush them into feeling better and let the person who is hurting process things as slowly as they need to. If the friend or loved one needs to tell the same story repeatedly, Taurus will listen each time and never act as if they're bored or annoyed.
They know that it takes time for people to move on. They are physically affectionate, so if the person needs it, Taurus is there for hugs, back rubs, and pats on the back.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
Geminis know exactly what to say to make someone feel better, and they offer a great deal of comfort with their words. When they hear that someone is going through a crisis, they'll be the first one to reach out with texts, messages, or calls.
If the person is agreeable, Gemini will visit, knowing that when someone is dealing with an emotional upheaval, they often feel hopeless and alone. They will attempt to gently lift their mood.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancers are very emotional themselves, so they know what someone in crisis is going through. They will comfort others by listening to them, allowing them to feel whatever it is they're feeling, and encouraging the person to tell their story.
Cancers are also affectionate with their words and their actions which they use to communicate how much they care.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Leos comfort others with how loving and dependable they are. The person in crisis knows they can count on Leo to take care of the things they can't handle.
Leos know that when someone is going through something emotional, they're going to feel their feelings and that all emotions are valid. They are supportive and strong so their loved one knows they will be there no matter how out of control they may feel.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgos are problem-solvers which is how they comfort others. They will look at things from an analytical point of view, trying to discover the best solutions for the problem.
Virgos don't intrude or try to push the person in crisis into doing something that they don't want to do. Instead, they try to offer practical solutions, but if those don't work, they will listen without judgment.
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Libras are great at comforting others because they care. A Libra may try to distract the person from their problem if that's what they need; if not, Libras will not only listen to them, but they will offer very good advice.
If the person chooses not to listen to Libra's counsel, they don't take it personally and will just continue to try things that may help the person feel better.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpio comforts others by letting them rage and scream — they don't tell them to calm down. Scorpios think it's healthier to let it out rather than let the negative feelings grow.
They will hold the person's hand and tell them they will get through this. If the person doesn't believe Scorpio, that's okay, because this zodiac sign allows them to process their emotions any way they can.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Sagittarians comfort others by not pushing them to be any specific way. These individuals know that when someone is in crisis, they may feel out of control and helpless, and that by making small decisions can take some of their power back.
Rather than suggesting a specific plan, Sagittarius will offer options: "Would you like something to drink? Tea, a coke, or something else?" Sometimes just a change in location can make someone feel better.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorns comfort others by letting them know they are there for them and that they can depend on them for anything. Capricorns are great listeners and give very good advice, but if the person in crisis isn't open to logic, they are happy just to listen to them vent.
This zodiac sign will take care of the practical things that sometimes get ignored when someone is emotionally distraught, and will help them make decisions which can feel impossible when someone is upset.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
Aquarians aren't great when someone is having an emotional breakdown, but they do care about others. If someone they love is going through a crisis, Aquarius will put the word out and rally extra support for the person who is hurting.
They know that everybody has their strengths and weaknesses, and that sometimes it takes a group to help someone to heal.
PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
Pisces comfort others by being empathetic and caring. They're there emotionally for the person and try to keep their own issues and stories to themselves. They don't criticize or offer any judgment; instead, they listen, make sure that the person has food and beverages, and whatever else they need.
The one thing that Pisces will never say is that they know how the person feels — they're sensitive enough to know that they can't understand someone else's experience even if they've gone through something similar.
