How Each Zodiac Sign Handles Getting A Compliment

getty When someone gives you a compliment, it should be taken as a positive thing, but too often we get suspicious of people when they tell us something positive about ourselves. There can be a hundred reactions to a compliment, but astrology is a great way to gauge yours. And when it comes to
how the zodiac signs accept a compliment, each has their own way of handling it.
Some people are gracious, charming, and equally adept at receiving a compliment as they are giving one. However, not everyone is great at getting a compliment. For some people, being praised makes them feel awkward and unsure of what they should do.
If you’re an overthinker, it may be especially difficult for you to receive a compliment and not spend hours wondering about the exact meaning, why the person gave it to you, and what you should have said in response. And when someone who rarely gives you a compliment says something to you, it may seem to have more value than a compliment from someone who gives them easily.
If you’re fairly certain that the person giving you the compliment is sincere, it’s a good idea to take it at face-value and let it be a boost to your self-esteem. It’s also not a bad idea to compliment yourself, as it could help when you’re feeling down.
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries love a good compliment, especially if it's something they already know like how strong, spontaneous, fun, and courageous they are. Winning for them is like a big compliment that tells the world they're the best.
They can be a little arrogant sometimes and aren't above questioning your compliment if they don't think it's worthy enough of them.
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus are better at singing their own praises than receiving them from someone else. It's not that they don't believe a compliment when they hear one, but sometimes they don't know how to react.
If they say, "Damn straight," they'll come off as obnoxious, and if they downplay it, they'll seem insincere. They may just be more comfortable at turning the compliment around and complimenting the person who gave it to them in the first place.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
It really depends on Gemini's mood how they'll take a compliment. If they're feeling good, they may accept it in the spirit to which it was given, and if they're not, they may brush it off as if it embarrasses them.
They're better at giving compliments than getting them, as if sometimes they can't quite make themselves believe the compliment is sincere.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
A compliment can bring a Cancer to tears, especially if it's about something they've been worried about such as if they're a good parent or if they're doing well at their job. They know it's not a good idea to cry at work if they don't have to, and that crying when someone praises you can make for an awkward experience.
But Cancers can't help it. It touches them to know that someone cares enough to tell them something positive, so naturally, they take it to heart.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Leos respond very well to compliments — they're not so full of themselves that they take it as something that is so obvious but as confirmation that they are doing something right. Leos respond to a compliment with their whole body — they smile, their eyes light up, and they'll probably hug or do something physical that shows how much they appreciate the kind words.
They don't deny what the person who is complimenting them says, nor are they cocky about it. They're accepting and honest.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgos have a good sense of their self-worth, so they're not surprised when someone compliments them. However, they do have perfectionist issues and may feel that when they're complimented the person is being kind.
Virgos aren't perfect but they want to be, and when they're complimented on something they feel insecure about it, they may question the validity of the compliment.
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Libras love compliments and make note of those people who never give them any. They're gracious about getting a compliment and tend to give one right back.
Libras don't see anything wrong in making someone feel good with a compliment and know the power of positive affirmations that sometimes come in that form. Any kind praise is good for Libra.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpios are going to reserve judgment when it comes to a compliment. If they think you're just blowing smoke or trying to manipulate them, they'll shut you down. It's not a good idea to use flattery to get Scorpio to do something.
However, if you're being sincere with your compliment and Scorpio knows it, it will touch their heart. They want quality praise, not just lies you think they'll love.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Sagittarians love getting compliments and may go overboard with their gratitude in accepting them. They like hearing nice things about themselves and like the validation that they're appreciated.
In return, they want the person giving them the compliment to feel the same way. If you don't give them a compliment, they'll just laugh it off.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
One of the great personality traits that Capricorns possess is the ability to give credit where credit is due. If someone compliments them on the great job they did on the project, and someone else helped, they'll make sure to point out that this person was instrumental in the success of the project and that they deserve some of the praise.
Capricorns aren't going to take all the glory if they had a partner or a team helping them out.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
An Aquarius might feel slightly embarrassed when given a compliment and may brush it off, but secretly they'll be pleased. They don't want to come off as arrogant or entitled.
They know they're brilliant and creative, but it's nice to get confirmation on their many gifts and talents. They also try to give compliments frequently, but they're still kind of awkward at getting them.
PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
Pisces like getting compliments, especially on their creative work, but they aren't always aware when they're getting them. Pisces may be lost in their fantasy world or come up with some new creative concept and miss the compliment altogether.
If it seems as if a Pisces has no reaction when you give them a compliment, repeat it until you're sure they've received it.
