How Libra Season Will Affect Your Zodiac Sign Until October 22nd

We welcome in much-needed star energy with the shift into Libra season on September 22nd.

Each zodiac sign has their own season during the course of the calendar year, and depending upon which season we’re in, we can see the effects of that show up in our lives.

While in Virgo season we were all about the plans we were making and tying up loose ends, in Libra season we will be thinking about balance, harmony and partnerships. This shift of focus will be welcome for some but challenging for others, depending upon the truths it exposes in your own life.

Libra is an air sign represented by the scales, signifying not just balance but justice. She's also one of the ruling signs of Venus, which means while all partnerships are on the table for discussion, she tends to pull special attention towards those that are romantically based.

What planetary transits will change the energy this month during Libra season?

Keep in mind that, as with any year, especially this one, it’s not that straight-forward. We have a lot going on astrologically that will influence Libra season, and while there is no doubt it will be of benefit, it doesn’t mean we’re not going to be challenged every step of the way.

September 23th-30th

  • Mercury in Libra square Saturn in Capricorn
  • Mercury in Libra opposite Mars in Aries
  • Mercury enters Scorpio
  • Venus in Leo trine Mars in Aries
  • Saturn turns direct in Capricorn
  • Mars in Aries square Saturn in Capricorn

While there are some interesting transits the first week of Libra season, the real news is the planetary shifts of both Mercury and Saturn.

Mercury is the planet that rules our communications and thought processes, so when this planet changes signs, so does how we think and communicate. With this planet moving into the intense water sign of Scorpio, it means our conversations are about to get a little deeper and a lot more interesting.

Even though many of us had a feeling that the end of the year was shaping up to be one in which some dramatic events took place, we didn’t really know how it would all come together. Well, Mercury in Scorpio is just one of those reasons, and it’s because we’re more apt to not only speak the truth, but to truly think about our authentic why and how it relates to the big life decisions we end up making.

After four months of retrograde review, Saturn is about to turn direct back in Capricorn, signaling an end to an era and a time of immense work and growth over the next three months.

Saturn is the ruler of karmic lessons and divine timing. He actually began his brand-new cycle in Aquarius last Spring, but retrograded back in Capricorn as part of his cycle. Now that he’s direct again in this earth-bound sign for just a few months, it’s time for us to get down to business. Expect a focus on creating stronger foundations and better boundaries in your life, specifically in the realm of romantic partnerships.

The other transits taking place with Mercury, Saturn and Mars means we’re going to be drawn into reflecting and thinking more deeply about the themes these planets represent. Think: long conversations and balanced insight into the areas of boundaries, karma, divine love, ambition, passions and sex.

While the Mars-Saturn square at the end of that week may pose a pinnacle moment in which we’re asked to step up to the plate and change our behavior based on the lessons learned, the most interesting transit of the week is the one between Venus and Mars.

These two planets are known as the celestial lovers, and while they dance around one another in the sky, they seldom come together into a specific alignment.

Venus represents the divine feminine and all aspects of love, while Mars rules the divine masculine and all things sex; together, they tend to influence relationships at an entirely different level.

This transit, in particular, has Mars retrograde, which means we’re asked to think, reflect or redo something from our past, especially as it relates to that Venus in Leo energy, which is all about following our hearts. Sudden insights and passionate nights wouldn’t be out of the question!

October 1st-8th

  • Full Moon in Aries
  • Venus enters Virgo
  • Pluto quincunx True Node
  • Pluto turns direct in Capricorn

Don’t let the low number of transits this week fool you! Just because it’s only four doesn’t mean this won’t be a week to remember.

We start the week off with the Full Moon in Aries, tying back to the New Moon in the same zodiac sign that we experienced last March. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and likes to initiate action, so expect this Moon to be one that carries with it a great deal of movement and change.

With Venus entering into Virgo, we get a break from all the romanticism of this sign to actually look at love in a different light — so much so that what we begin seeing this week is the ultimate truth that ends up fueling bigger decisions later into Libra season.

While Venus in Virgo can take a more logical look at love, it’s also about bringing in a sense of healing as well.

This means we will be more apt to heal those old emotional wounds, to forgive, to love ourselves more deeply, and to choose the love that heals us from believing we’re hard to love.

Now, on to Pluto news! Just before turning direct, he forms an aspect known for representing "between a rock and a hard place," meaning there is no great option but the one we can live with the most.

This will only be exemplified by Pluto turning direct, and with that shift will bring big truths to light and expose any lingering secrets we’ve hoped would stay hidden.

During this week, expect to feel on fire, irrational, pulled by your soul, and unable to pretend to be anything other than who you truly are at the moment.

October 9th-15th

  • Jupiter in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces
  • Mercury turns retrograde in Scorpio

As if we needed anything else to stir up trouble in our lives, here comes Mercury retrograde!

Mercury is the planet that rules how we think and how we speak. When he turns retrograde, it means we’re asked to review decisions we’ve previously made.

In this case, the last time we saw this planet turn retrograde in Scorpio was October 2019. Think back to that time and any big decisions you made, because it’s likely they’re going to come up for review and cause a change of heart.

The other transit this week is between Jupiter and Neptune. This will create some positive, beneficial energy for work we’ve already put in, showing us that the more we love the decisions we make, the less we ask others to.

October 16th-21st

  • New Moon in Libra
  • Asteroid Ceres turns direct in Aquarius
  • Asteroid Vesta enters Virgo

During the last week of Libra season, we celebrate the New Moon of the zodiac sign challenging us to rethink the way we thought about partnerships, and to feel brave enough to make different choices.

This month will challenge us in our healing, our passions, and in our ability to listen to our own voice over all others.

We’ve come this far, and now this New Moon in Libra is there encouraging us to keep going, helping us believe it’s possible to create what we’re drawn to pursue.

With the energy of both Ceres and Vesta, there is a strong influence of deep-rooted feminine love with this moon. While it’s significant because of the healing and confidence it can bring, it’s also here to remind us that life doesn’t get easier, but we learn what is worth working for and what isn’t.
