Everything seems a little more pink and red in February. Maybe you just got out of a relationship or are seeking a boyfriend just in time for this holiday.

I’m here to tell you to STOP LOOKING.

There’s so much pressure put on us to celebrate Valentine’s Day with roses and a partner by our bedside. It makes the rest of us who don’t have have someone to love feel like something is wrong with us when in fact, we’re just waiting for the right person to come along and love us right.

It's time to stop thinking there is something wrong with being single on Valentine's Day! Who cares! Instead of focusing on the fact that you aren't in a relationship this February, focus on loving yourself and those around you.

Sure, it's not as desirable to be alone on Valentine's Day but that doesn't mean you can't have fun and live it up as a single woman on Feb. 14.

Below are seven reasons why it’s okay to be single and proud on this holiday!

1. The universe has its plan.

You have to believe that everything happens for a reason. If you are single this Valentine's Day, remember that there are at least 364 other days in any given year for you to find someone. Just because this year it might not be spent in the arms of a lover, that doesn’t mean next year it won’t. Everything works out the way it’s supposed to.

2.  You can spend your time with friends and family.

What better way to spend a day of love than with those who’ve been there from the start? Sure, Valentine’s Day has always been marketed as a day of romantic gestures. Taking bubble baths with your family might seem a little weird but there are other ways to celebrate all kinds of love. You can always go out to dinner with them and celebrate familial love. Have a girl’s night in and crack open two bottles of red wine while talking about all the ways you have each other’s back. There so many different kinds of love to be celebrated!

3. You’re allowed to treat yo’ self.

You’re the longest relationship you’ll ever be in. Forget romantic partners — they’ve only know you for a fraction of the time you’ve known yourself. Loving yourself is a constant journey of ups and downs but it's one of the most important things you can do. You battle your own demons and vices on a daily basis, so use this Valentine’s Day to celebrate how far you’ve come and how far you’ll go. Rejoice that once again you’ve completed a year of trials and tribulations but still came out stronger.

4.  You save some extra money.

Maybe you’re one of those in a relationship who’d go all out. Chocolates, gifts, champagne and reservations at the best restaurant money can afford. Being single on this day means you can save some money and spend that extra cash on yourself. Or maybe you just have the money to pay the bills on time. Either way it’s nice to have some cushion room.

5. The discounted candy.

By the time February 14 and 15 roll around, all of your favorite candies will be on sale. Instead of paying the big bucks for heart-themed candy, you now get to have as much boxed chocolate as you want without the dent in your wallet.

6. You can be selfish.

Being single means you don’t have to share anything, espeially that chocolate you got half off! There's no need to split the chocolates or the champagne you bought. You can consume it all for yourself without a partner who will take more than their fair share.

7. You can change your life this day too.

Spending Valentine’s Day alone just means at any time you can find the right person to spend next year’s holiday with. Cupid is out in full force and love is in the air. There’s absolutely nothing stopping you from trying to find someone this day and creating a loving and fulfilling relationship. Just remember that you come first and should always treat yourself with the love and respect you would any other partner you may have.
