It's more than just handing out business cards.

The thought of having to network can be anxiety-provoking for many people. When they picture having to step out of their comfort zone and going to events for the purpose of meeting new people and impressing them with their business, product, or self, they just want to skip the whole thing.
But people who understand how to network know that as awkward and uncomfortable as they may be, networking is actually about building relationships and creating supportive communities. It’s not a contest to see how many business cards you can collect or how many follow-up appointments you can set; it’s about gaining information, bringing in business, and taking steps towards success. But most importantly, it’s about connection.
Using astrology, we can determine which zodiac signs are good at networking, what methods they use to connect with others, and how they build mutually beneficial relationships. Because networking, like everything, is different for everyone.
Networking is a great tool to have and it’s really not as intimidating as it may seem. The more you do it, the easier it will get, so over time you’ll feel more comfortable doing it and will reap the benefits.
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries are always networking even if it's not networking events. When an Aries has a job or is part of a business, they can't help being excited and talking about it.
These individuals can network at the dog park, the gym, or even a party. When you're enthusiastic about your work, people want to know more, and they want to find out how they can be a part of it.
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus are thoughtful networkers — they don't just give out their business card and call it a day. No, Taurus will follow-up by sending a thank you note, or they'll share a resource or recommendation.
They'll search for articles that other people might find interesting or helpful. Networking doesn't stop for Taurus just because the networking event is over; it's an ongoing campaign that helps them stand out from the competition.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
When it comes to networking, Geminis cast a wide net. They don't just talk to people in their own field or whom they think can do something for them, Geminis talk to everybody. You never know who may be able to help you down the line.
They also know that everyone has something about them that's fascinating, and it's up to Geminis to find out what that is, even if the person doesn't appear to be particularly engaging.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancers network by how willing they are to recommend other people and how easily they compliment others. They feel that if they can make colleagues and people in business aware of the skill sets of people they know, they are doing a service to both people.
If Cancer is complimentary of someone, they may return the favor and help Cancer out sometime in the future. Saying nice things about people and recommending them without demanding something in return makes these individuals look good.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Here's the thing that makes Leos such great networkers: they always take the time to learn someone's name and they never forget a face. If Leo has to use a memory trick to do it, it's still well worth it to them.
People like it when they're remembered, and it makes a great impression. Leos do well with meeting new people, and they tend to meet a lot of them, but still, everyone Leo meets feels special and as if there was a real connection.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgos are great networkers because they do research before a networking event and make plans. If Virgo knows that representatives from a certain company are sponsoring the event, they will find out what they can about the company, their management style, and their achievements.
They prepare conversation topics ahead of time. In addition, Virgo won't just hand out their business card, they'll try to get a meeting in the books.
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Libras are great networkers because they create their own events — they have parties, shows, or meet-ups. When Libras organize and make their own events, they're in control and can make sure they get something out of it.
Since Libras know how to work any kind of social gathering, they know exactly what to do to optimize their results and it ends up being worth their time, effort, and money. If they make some excellent contacts from the party, great; if they don't, it's still great because they will have had a good time socializing.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpios are great at using social media to network. They use every platform they can to meet people, promote their skills and products, and to form relationships with them.
By connecting with friends of friends or past business associates, Scorpio is able to continually grow their network, and by commenting and having a major online presence, people will remember them when a job or project comes up.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
First of all, Sagittarians thrive at meeting new people, so they love networking events. This works in their favor because instead of agreeing to go and then flaking at the last minute, they tend to go to all the networking events.
They make great first impressions, and because they are so intelligent and fun, people want to work with them. Sagittarius doesn't limit themselves to events that are labeled as networking events; they go to all kinds of gatherings that may not look like networking events at all.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorns are good at networking because they're able to talk about their skills and abilities without coming off as someone with an inflated ego or big head.
They know that they're hardworkers, experienced, and are fantastic on anyone's team, but if people don't know, it won't do Capricorn any good, so they make sure to promote themselves in a likable and truthful way.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
Aquarians tend to combine networking with doing good works. They'll do volunteer work, join the board of a nonprofit, or they might ask for an introduction from someone they meet while working for a charity.
This allows Aquarius to give back and meet people who could help them out professionally. When you help others, you can help yourself at the same time, even if that's not your intention.
PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
The way that Pisces network is by taking workshops and classes so they're always up on new developments or techniques in their profession, and they're able to meet other people who are interested in their field.
Pisces will also attend conferences, mixers, and retreats — things that may not immediately seem like a networking event but can help Pisces with their work. They also will use any kind of online site as a networking tool.
