I tell them not to beat themselves up, yet it seems beating one's self up is part of what we do in this society.
And while some of us to it to a lesser degree, in astrology, there are certain zodiac signs who judge themselves severely.
Now, judgement is a part of life; we need judgement to be able to cross a street without getting killed. Judgement is discretion; it is how we discriminate between what is right and what is wrong. When we look in the mirror, judgement steps in to wrap up the picture: are we looking good, or are we looking bad? Depending on how self-judging we are, that could go very far down a sad, self-hating path.
We judge ourselves because we compare ourselves to others. Someone's gotta be better than we are, right? Someone's body is nicer, someone's skin is healthier, someone's hair is more lustrous. But when we really dig into judging ourselves, we give ourselves unrealistic standards to overcome. It's the difference between making a proper decision, and living a life spent hating one's self.

1. CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancer-born folks spend an awful long time indulging in what's wrong and what's right with them. Eating disorders pop up regularly with this sign and last a lifetime. Nobody spends more time wondering if their diet is on track, or if their weight is acceptable.
They don't believe in diets but spend their life trying to find ways to lose weight. Cancer will not listen to critique, because they trust no opinions other than their own, but they are also quick to harshly judge themselves for being too "everything they don't want to be."
2. PISCES (February 19 - March 10)
Pisces wants everything to run smoothly all the time, and when it doesn't, they take on the blame and assume that whatever went wrong, it's their fault. Self-pity and wallowing are no strangers to Pisces, and it all stems from a deep need to judge both others and their own selves.
You may have done the wrong thing, but to Pisces, it's not half as bad as what they've done. All judgement is on the Pisces, who finds an odd cold comfort in feeling bad for themselves, even hopeless.
3. VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgo goes through life lugging around a ton of guilt, no matter what they do. They don't judge themselves for being a bad person, or for being too this or that; they overly judge themselves when they think they've done someone wrong. Then, it's a party of guilt, a literal riot of self-hating contrition.
When Virgo feels they've done the wrong thing, you can basically kiss them good bye as they will become lost in the indulgence of self-pity and wound licking. "I'm such a bad friend."
4. LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Libra tends to focus on looks, and when they are dissatisfied with what they see in the mirror, they usually take it out on the world. Librans don't feel confident or secure about their appearance, ever, so they overcompensate by flattering everyone around them.
They feel that if they compliment others, their own physical flaws might be forgiven or even overlooked. They are severe self-judges and they use the fuel of self-hate to get by in this life.
5. TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
While this sign brings forth some of the most confident people on the planet, the irony is that it also brings about the most neurotic, body-conscious folks around. Taurus is never satisfied with their appearance, even when they look outstandingly good.
This lack of self-esteem is only related to physicality, as they are confident in all other areas. If you hug a Taurus, they will feel where you hugged them afterwards just to make sure you hugged an appealing location on their body.

Because Capricorn knows what's right and what's wrong, the judgement comes fast and furious, and it's always pointed at themselves. They do not like to fail, and they loathe to admit mistakes. You won't find many apologies coming from your Capricorn friends, but that doesn't mean they don't feel contrite; they do, but they can't break out of their own sense of entitlement.
