getty It's kind of hard to be on the internet these days without being bombarded by endless Morticia memes. Seems everyone and their Grandmama is a "witch," and there are zillions of witchy memes being put up to show the world just how witchy one can be.
I thought witches relied upon spells, candles, potions, magic — but then again, I'm an old school witch who can construct a sentence, as opposed to relying upon memes to tell the world who I am.
"I'm so spooky and dangerous, better watch out or I'll curse you with my witchy powers! Beware me and my witchy, witchy ways!" There is nothing special about a meme that tells the world you're special. And there's nothing that says, "I'm not a witch" like a meme that says, "I'm a witch." A meme. Come on, witches, you can do better than that!
So, what is a witch then, if not an abused photo of Morticia made into a meme 25,000 times over?
A witch is a person, male or female, who believes in nature, in energy, in timing, in love, and in cosmic balance. A witch is someone who practices their craft, which is generally about intention, concentration, ritual, contemplation, prayer, entreaty and focus.
A witch is a person who intends to manifest and does so, without telling the world she or he is doing so. Real witches don't boast; they work. Real witches aren't found in memes; they're found in their homes, reading books, formulating herbal potions, working with almanacs, crafting according to the laws of nature, beneath the light of the Full Moon.
So, in astrology, who are the witchy zodiac signs among us?
1. TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Taureans tend to throw themselves into whatever they love, and should they toss conventional spiritual practice to the wind, they will no doubt land in the world of witchcraft and conjuring. They are also the first to experiment with the dark side.
Naturally attracted to things of a dangerous nature, you'll find the Taurus witches to be nocturnal, possibly Satanic, and always passionately involved in whatever spell holds their fancy.
2. AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
Aquarius looks for things to be involved with. Often times those things turn out to be philosophical or spiritual. They are attracted to the road less traveled, and often find themselves on a journey of the spirit. They are open to new things, and start that journey with an investigation of old things as well as new, and that means witchcraft and Paganism.
They may not join up with the flock, but they will practice the craft well for a time. Witchcraft is a comfortable fit for the seeker of practical magic that is Aquarius.
3. VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
On the dark side of witchcraft, you'll find Virgo, a sign very used to heavy thought and negative intention. They are less inclined to use spells and time-tested crafting, and are more inclined to threaten with Morticia memes. However, do not doubt these lazy Virgo witches.
What they lack in traditional witch crafting, they make up in giving people the unholy stink eye. Let's just say, they hate so intensely that they become destructive, and if we get in their way, we will be mowed down by their cruel intentions.
4. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
No one ever really knows what goes on inside the mind of the ever-elusive but charming Sagittarius. Well, what's going on is... witchcraft. They are traditionalists, all the way.
That friend of yours who keeps a pantry filled with strange herbs and ingredients, along with many, many candles, all carved up in ancient Enochian? That's your witchy Sag buddy right there. They don't do witchcraft half-assed. They go full robe, bell, book and candle. This sign is all Abracadabra.
5. CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancer, the sign that is ruled by The Moon, is basically the sign of the Witches. Cancer witches are dedicated, good, and their craft is always for the benefit of the people. They are the healers of the zodiac, and as witches, Cancer is the nurturer, the teacher of other witches, the friendly gatherer.
This sign will welcome you into the fold without making you feel threatened. A Cancer witch is one who lives and dies a witch, no matter what.
6. ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Always down for the paranormal, you'll find many Aries people have a predilection for witchcraft and fortune telling. Aries has a dire need for excellence, and that trait travels with them no matter what their interest is.
