It’s amazing the power that first impressions have. Research has shown that it only takes seven seconds to make a first impression. That means there's only seven seconds for someone to decide if they want to talk to you, engage with you, or avoid you.
There are many different ways to ensure that you make a great first impression, and all of the zodiac signs in astrology have their own methods. Of course, there’s a long list of what not to do if you want to make a first impression that doesn't leave people irriated by you: don’t be rude, don’t be inappropriate, don’t pick your nose, don’t insult the very people you want to charm, and don’t gossip about others.
Making a good first impression isn’t difficult and is mostly common sense. You don’t want to talk so loudly that you hurt people’s ears, nor do you want to speak so slowly that no one can hear you.
Sometimes you can say things in such a way that the meaning of your words is easily misconstrued. Having a sense of humor is always a plus when trying to charm people. Everybody loves to laugh, and humor (used correctly) can put people at ease and be a good ice-breaker.
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries people are so upbeat, lively, and have positive energy that surrounds them that it's easy for them to make a great first impression. All Aries has to do is to show their personality and be their true self, and people will find them relatable and want to get to know them better.
They tend not to be shy either and are able to talk to people without being awkward or ill at ease.
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus have a way of capturing everyone's attention in a positive way. They've got that certain something that makes people gravitate towards them. They are in touch with their body, so they know to make sure that their body language is saying what they want it to say.
Taurus individuals are careful not to roll their eyes, smirk, or appear bored because they know that a bad first impression can ruin things down the line.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
Geminis have a great energy about them and they are immediately likeable. They tend to be intelligent and witty so people are never bored around them.
They are clever and they know that if they monopolize the conversation and don't allow other people to talk, they won't make a very good first impression. That's why Geminis try to be active listeners, and that tends to give other people a very favorable impression of them.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancers are creative, spontaneous, and know what a turn-off it is to be full of yourself. It's not that Cancers don't have pride in themselves or their accomplishments, it's that they know not to throw it into someone's face that they just met.
They know they're not perfect, and that when you're transparent and show that you are a flawed human being, people will be able to connect more easily with you.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Most Leos have mastered making great first impressions ages ago and they know exactly what to do. It might be their powerful yet kind personalities or the way they present themselves, but people tend to like Leos immediately.
Since Leos are used to meeting new people all the time, they've got some tricks up their sleeves — one is that not only do they learn people's names quickly, they actually use them. People like to be remembered, and when Leo uses someone's name it makes a lasting impression.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgos are smart and somewhat sensitive, so there are times that they can come off as socially awkward. In order to avoid making a bad first impression, Virgo will prepare themselves for the situation. They do their homework.
If they're going to a job interview, Virgo will learn all about the company; if it's a party, they will make sure they have some small talk prepared. Networking may not be their favorite thing, but with a little thought and effort, they can make great first impressions and good business contacts.
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Libras generally like people and they like to be around them, so they have a natural charm and grace. Libras want to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, so they try to be open-minded when they meet someone and not go into the situation with a lot of preconceived ideas.
They accept people's differences and don't judge them. They make other people feel as if they can be their real selves, and that makes others feel comfortable with them.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpios have a lighter, more frisky side to them, but when they're in a position where they need to make a great first impression, Scorpio will come off as mature, passionate, and ambitious. They smile, watch the tone of their voice, and they never try to control the narrative.
Scorpios ask people questions and draw them into interesting conversations. When it comes to making a great first impression, they know exactly what they're doing.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Sagittarius are another sign who love meeting people, and their excitement about it makes others instantly like them. Sagittarians know that when they demonstrate a positive attitude and an interest in other people's lives, it makes a fantastic impression.
It's not something Sagittarius puts on; they genuinely like connecting with new people and learning about their lives. Making great first impression benefits Sagittarius — not just in their travels but in many aspects of their lives.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorns know all the right things to do to make a great first impression. They're always on time, they're dependable, and they've got a sense of humor so they don't come off as too straitlaced or boring.
Capricorns know that if they're late or they flake out, they will ruin any chance of making a good impression. They would never want anyone to think they were unreliable, irresponsible, or impulsive.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
Aquarians are friendly, intelligent, and people like to be around them. Aquarians have the ability to make a friend out of almost everyone they meet. They tend to stand out from the crowd, which makes them difficult to forget.
It's not that they're outrageous or too out there; they're unique in their own special way and it makes a great impression on others. An Aquarian isn't going to conform to what they think another person wants them to be, and they're always going to be themselves.
PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
Pisces have an aura of compassion and kindness that surrounds them. One of the ways they make a good first impression is because always speak respectfully and kindly of others, and they never gossip.
Pisces would never meet someone for the first time and talk negatively about a mutual acquaintance, even if it seemed like a good way to bond. Pisces know that talking about someone in a negative way would only make them look bad and might come back to haunt them.
