How did Bode Miller's daughter die?  Tragic news out of Coto de Caza, California. Olympic skier Bode Miller and his wife Morgan's 19-month old daughter Emeline "Emmy" Miller drowned in a neighbor's pool over the weekend. Needless to say, Emmy's parents are devastated. The Millers issued the following statement: "Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this." There are no words that can soothe anyone who has lost a child. The sports community has come out in support. Let's take a look at some of the details surrounding this sad event.

1. When was Emmy born?

Emeline Grier Miller was born in a home birth in November 2016. He posted a photo on Instagram at the time, captioning it, “It was an amazing day for the Miller family yesterday as we welcomed our baby girl.” Emmy was named after Bode's grandmother.

2. How many siblings did Emmy have?

Emmy had a three-year-old brother, Nash. Her mom Morgan is also expecting her third child in a few months. Bode has two kids from earlier relationships: a 10-year-old daughter named Neesyn and a 5-year-old son named Samuel.

3. How it went down.

On Saturday around 6:30pm, paramedics were called to a home in the exclusive Coto de Caza neighborhood. The Orange County Fire Authority tried to resuscitate the young girl. Those efforts were unsuccessful and she was rushed to the emergency room, where she was pronounced dead. The incident is under investigation.

4. The family asked for privacy. 

Yesterday, Bode posted the adorable photo below to his Insta with the caption: "We are beyond devastated. Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday. Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this. Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten. Our little girl loved life and lived it to it’s fullest everyday. Our family respectfully requests privacy during this painful time."

Bode Miller is the most decorated male U.S. skier in history. He has 33 World Cup wins, two overall titles and four world championships. Miller, 40, has six Olympic medals.
