Karma, karma, karma.

Roseanne has officially been axed.

ABC announced they have canceled their highly popular reboot of Roseanne only hours after the show's creator and star Roseanne Barr sent out a racist tweet against former President Barack Obama's top advisor Valerie Jarrett, according to the New York Times

In a since-deleted tweet that has been screenshot and re-shared by various Twitter users, Roseanne, who has been prone to making insensitive comments in the past, posted a comment referring to Valerie Jarrett that said: “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.”

Then instead of apologizing, Roseanne tried to dismiss accusations that the comment was racist, defending it as "a joke.” She also said on Twitter, “ISLAM is not a RACE, lefties. Islam includes EVERY RACE of people.”

Roseanne decided to delete the initial post about Jarrett, and a half-hour later, she offered an apology.

The sitcom star tweeted: “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. “I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me - my joke was in bad taste.”

Roseanne also announced she would be leaving Twitter, but the damage had already been done.

ABC's entertainment president Channing Dungey had this to say about the sitcom's sudden cancelation and Roseanne's behavior:

"Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show."

Prior to the cancelation, the show which had a successful first season with over 18 million viewers, was scheduled to return in the fall with 13 episodes.

According to Variety, shortly after ABC's announcement of the sitcom's cancelation, ICM Partners announced they were dropping Roseanne as a client.

ICM Partners released a statement saying: “We are all greatly distressed by the disgraceful and unacceptable tweet from Roseanne Barr this morning. What she wrote is antithetical to our core values, both as individuals and as an agency. Consequently, we have notified her that we will not represent her. Effective immediately, Roseanne Barr is no longer a client.”
