getty Everyone has a dirty little secret, if not an entire slew of 'em, hidden beneath the projection of ourselves that we show the world. We'd be hypocrites to think we don't harbor thoughts within that might be shady, embarrassing or just plain... nasty. Usually, it's the "nasty" that makes what we hold on to a secret.
The fun part is that while we all keep dirty little secrets, the kind of secrets we keep can depend upon the time we are born. That's right, in astrology, we can actually gravitate towards certain types of behavior that might eventually lead us to hiding that behavior and chalking it off as a "dirty little secret."
So, what are the dirty little secrets of each zodiac sign and how does their horoscope help them hide this behavior?
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries has more than likely wrecked a marriage or relationship in their time, and though they may carry around the guilt of doing such a thing, they tuck that secret neatly into their bag of denial, and proceed along as if nothing ever happened.
They did a bad thing, but they can't admit it, so it gets stored into their ever-widening bag of "dirty little secrets."
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
They steal. Things. Money. Hearts. More things. They have stolen and they will steal again. In the Taurus mind, they were simply taking care of business; they needed, and the only way to fulfill that need at that time was to take what wasn't theirs and make it their own.
It was wrong, they know it, and they don't love that they did it; however, they are very conscious of this less than lovely aspect of themselves, and will hide it deep in the recesses of their minds.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
They are very aware of how much they let slip into disarray, and I don't mean having a messy desk. They are completely conscious of how they don't come through for friends or family, and the truth is, it's because they don't care and they don't want to feel obligated to do or feel anything that doesn't come natural to them.
The "dirty little secret" of the Gemini is that they actually don't care, in spite of how much you think they should.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cheaters. They cheat, they are disloyal, and if anyone is going to try and go behind your back to seduce your mate, it's Cancer. They are filled with secrets and most of them are dirty.
There's a good chance Cancer has lied to you, and more than likely about you, to your face. They will friend you for the chance you present them, and if they are interested in whomever you're interested in, they have no qualms about pursuing them.
Their dirty little secret is that they steal people's lovers, without conscience or sense of responsibility.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Leo is a bruiser. Nobody wants to know that. What do I mean by a bruiser? Well, just that. Leo has hurt people, physically. Maybe in their distant past, which is all the more reason they could call it a dirty little secret.
Leo has a temper, and throughout their life, they sometimes do not know how to channel their anger, and regrettably, they've acted out in a violent way towards another or others. Leo has a sordid past, and unfortunately, sometimes they keep a violent secret tucked way deep down inside.
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Possibly the bane of their existence is their own self-hate and lack of self-worth. This is their dirty little secret, and it really bothers them, which, in a way, is a sign of determination and strength.
Alas, poor Virgo is eternally torn between wanting to be the best and continuously telling themselves that they are not only less than the best, they are the worst. Virgo is Virgo's worst enemy, but to let the public know of such vulnerability would be worse. Hence the status of dirty little secret.
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
The dirtiest little secret that Libra hides is that everything can hurt them. That need to please — it's a way to avoid confrontation, which is their greatest enemy. They do not want to be held accountable for their actions because they do not believe you should have any business being interested in their actions.
All of this combines as a pleasant demeanor that they present to the world, while deep inside they believe they are lost, alone and abandoned. Their front is the balanced, "nice guy" attitude. Maybe if we think they're nice, we'll leave them alone.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
We have violent people in the world, and some of them happen to be Scorpios. But what would make their actions something they'd want to stow away in the dirty little secret section of their brain?
They have done things in their past that have left them completely conflicted and irreparably damaged due to these actions. Perhaps they hurt someone and thought they'd feel good about it as in an act of vengeance, but it went awry, and then Scorpio was handed a new fate: regret for a lifetime. That's a secret worth keeping in the dark.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Hubris is what will kill all Sagittarians, and what they would call their dirtiest little secret is that they know they've been stupid beyond belief. Sags are of the zodiac signs which get intense revelations; these folks get honest tastes of wisdom.
However, they get cocky and do the absolutely stupidest things ever. They have no sense of survival when it comes to making bad decisions, and often times, like idiots, put themselves in "accidental" harm's way. Sagittarius would prefer you not know what idiots they really are, and that's why they lock that door and throw away the key.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Not violent, physical types, Capricorn has an exceptionally nasty side, and when they really decide to burn all bridges, they do it thoughtlessly and criminally. They are destroyers with words and lives are left harmed by them. This causes extreme guilt in them, and as a coping mechanism, they stuff it back down and repress it in order to survive.
The reason it's such a dirty little secret for them is because they know if they open up the "guilt" can of worms, it will be way more than just a revisit; it will be a mind trip into their own personal hell.
AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
Nobody knows how mean Aquarians can be until you find yourself at the mercy of one as they stab you in the back, repeatedly. Aquarians carry massive amounts of guilt, but their dirtiest little secret is that if they hurt you, they enjoyed it. No, they do not like the "residue" of hurting people, but they enjoy the living hell out of the moment they do hurt you. They love it.
Their guilt is not about their love of your pain, though. What eats at them in a guilty way is how they might be able to do it again, just for fun. They recognize this as a bad trait (really?) and keep it tucked into the dirty little secret compartment.
PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
At one point, Pisces could not recognize the need to call any of their faults or traits dirty, little or secret... until they felt enough pain come at them from the judgment of people who recognized them for who they really are: filthy, disorderly, neglectful of hygienic standards.
Ironically, as Pisces is a water sign, they sure could stand to bathe more frequently. That's where perfume comes in — to mask the stench of their dirty little secrets. At least they're not murderers...
