getty I always get a laugh when people call writers like Stephen King or Dan Brown "hacks." As if being a hack is this terrible thing. What's a hack writer? It's someone who hacks out word after word, at a rapid pace, with the intent of creating a finished piece of writing, whether fictional or non-fictional. In other words, whoever the hack is, this is someone who has the talent to be able to write endlessly.
Being a hack is not about writing crap; it's about writing a LOT. As we all know, it's hard to write and even harder to make a living as a writer. So, the lucky hacks that make it in the field have some kind of handicap on their side. Could it be due to astrology? It might very well be. Because depending on how the stars align, the zodiac signs who make the best writers have an amazing talent.
Ironically, in this world of tech and progress, we still need writers. We still need real humans to tell our stories because computers just can't compensate for real human experience, and they certainly can't write from experience, can they?
