If you can believe it, there was a time when the word "nerd" was not very well known. And if you did know what a nerd was, you probably were a nerd yourself, because this title was only ascribed to those who fix their broken eyeglasses with scotch tape, had extensive knowledge of Star Trek, did well in school, AND had magical knowledge of rarely used words... like "nerd."
Too many pens in the front pocket, all leaking. All making that Van Heusen shirt look a mess. But for the nerdy zodiac signs in astrology, this word was a way of life, and gave them an opportunity to express themselves.
Then being a nerd suddenly seemed dangerous and sexy... minus the fresh clothes. Nerd took a leap out of outcast and was transformed into some form of fashion — sloppy, hipster, geeky, bookworm, loner, sadboy, poor little K-Rock girl. Being nerdy is about being smart, shy, scared and well informed on any given subject, including trivia of the most trivial kind.
The one interesting thing about nerds is that our feelings for them are absolutely polarizing. You either love them, or you hate them. And that's how we become nerds — we either love the idea of being eternally locked into the hippy Shatner fantasy, or it's something we wouldn't touch with a six foot phaser.
1. ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Well, of course, man... of course. Aries is up there with the nerds because nerds love to mess around and get a few laughs, and while they're there, they can teach you a thing or two about a thing or two.
Where there is an opportunity to be a part of a community that will worship you for your knowledge, that's the place for Aries. Nerd-dom.
2. GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
Gemini might not be anything other than a nerd. Remember the pens in the pocket? That's Gemini. He's nonplussed by your observations, and why? Because he's on his way to dissect a radio built in the 40s, and if you're interested, he can teach you all about those transistors afterwards.
3. CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancer is the sign that does that sweet, goofy, nerdy things... like bake a batch of Darth Vadar cookies, or make sure everyone comes over to their house (of course, because they're not leaving) dressed in appropriate phases of the moon.
And they do it all just to prove to the cats that, no, they're not always right about humans... sometimes they do other stuff than kill.
4. LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Libra is a natural born nerd, though they still have that insane sex appeal, which is really conflicting when it's your cousin and they're dressed up as Ming the Merciless... at Starbucks. Libra will do and say and dress as they please — they are nobody's slave.
But they are, however, slaves to fashion. Nerd fashion is the road to Nerdtopia, and let's just say you don't pass go until you're in the know with Libra.
5. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Because Sagittarians are completely lost in their minds at all times, it would make sense that this sign makes up a fairly large nerd population. Sagittarius will be on that line, all night, in the rain, to get those tickets.
They will arrive backstage with a drawing they did in Bic pen of their favorite actor, and yes, they will get that autograph and a photo, no matter how much it costs!
6. CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Being nerdy is almost insulting when you're a Capricorn. But when you ARE a Capricorn, you're usually wound up so tight that you need the blissful escape that a lack of social skills might provide.
The truth is Capricorn is nothing but a nerd, book smart, aloof, lost in thought, and totally able to quote Breaking Bad, episode by episode.
