Which signs should you turn to when your life gets out of control?

You tell yourself that you’ve got it all under control — you know what you want, you know how to get it, and you’re motivated... but then, life throws a wrench into all your carefully-laid plans.
Your relationship falls apart or you get “downsized” at work. Your degree is in danger because you just can’t pass that one class. Maybe you find out that you can’t even trust your best friend anymore.
No one likes dealing with heartbreak, failure, betrayal, or an uncertain future. Unfortunately, this is all part of the grand adventure of life. Sometimes things work exactly as planned, and sometimes they break in ways that you could never have foreseen.
You’ve got to fix this, but it’ll be hard to do it alone. Who can you turn to for help and advice?
It’s always a good idea to go to someone else who’s had similar experience in the past. They’ll understand where you’re coming from and can help you find the best ways to overcome the ordeal as quickly as possible.
However, experience isn’t always the best teacher. Sometimes you need a completely different perspective, and someone who’s never had to deal with your problem might be able to see solutions and connections that haven’t occurred to you yet.
When you’re wrestling with a problem and looking for another point of view, your daily horoscope will have some useful observations, so start there. That might not be enough, though.
When you need something more in-depth and personal, look to astrology to reveal the zodiac signs who give good advice, are reliable, and are better at problem-solving than others. Here’s how the Sun signs rank in terms of giving sensible advice, from best to worst.
1. VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
If you want an honest, objective appraisal of your situation and the most effective solutions, go see Virgo. But be prepared to confront some uncomfortable truths: Virgo will explain exactly how you found yourself into this predicament, including the part you played in causing it.
They excel at analysis and critique, and they’re not going to pull punches to save your feelings. Swallow your pride and pay attention. Virgo gives great advice because they can see so clearly.
2. CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorn might not be able to tell you how this you got to this point, but they can help you come up with a plan to move forward and put it behind you. Your Capricorn friend is practical and realistic, so they’re the ones who can keep you from drifting too far into “what if” so that you can stay focused on “what next.”
3. PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
Pisces isn’t known for being realistic or even particularly good planners, but that streak of psychic empathy is perfect when you want a shoulder to cry on and someone to help make sense of all of your confusing, conflicting feelings.
Emotions are Pisces’ native language, and they often know what’s going on in your heart better than you do. Sometimes all you need is a friend who really understands you, whether or not you can find the right words to talk about it.
4. LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
When your problems involve other people, you want Libra as a mediator. They can sense imbalance and unfairness, and will help you work together to make things right.
The downside of this is that you’ll probably have to make some compromises — Libra is a people-pleaser, but they care more about justice and lasting peace than they do for catering to anyone else’s ego. Libra won’t take sides.
5. SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
You might think twice about giving any old Scorpio access to your secrets and vulnerabilities, but if you can count a Scorpion among your true friends, they’ll honor the trust you place in them.
Scorpio is a great listener, though they probably won’t give you much objective feedback (they’re too enchanted with drama and mystery for that). Turn to Scorpio when you want to figure out how to take advantage of a bad situation, especially if you’re looking for revenge.
6. GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
Gemini loves conversation and they’ll make you feel like you can talk to them about anything. Because they tend to absorb the energy of the people around them, they really will seem to know exactly how you’re feeling.
If they’ve dealt with a similar problem in their lives, they’ll be happy to explain how they managed. If they haven’t though, they still might start spewing random advice just to keep the discussion going. Unless you’re sure that your Gemini is an expert, get a second opinion.
7. TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Go see Taurus before financial disaster strikes. They’re not great with immediate money problems, but they can show you how to invest wisely to make sure that your future is secure.
Ruled by quiet, compassionate Venus, Taurus is a great listener. They’re attuned to their loved ones’ emotional distress. They might not understand everything you’re going through or be able to provide good advice — they really do care, though, and sometimes that’s all you need.
8. CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Sharing your troubles with Cancer might just turn into a game of one-upsmanship to see which of you is the most miserable. It’s not that Cancer doesn’t take your problems seriously, it’s just that they have problems too, you know, and in their own weird way, they’re trying to help take your mind off your woes by focusing on their own.
Go to them for comfort food and emotional shelter — they’ll do anything to protect their loved ones from pain. Just don’t expect a lot of practical advice.
9. LEO (July 23 - August 22)
If your self-esteem needs a boost, tell Leo right up front that you’re feeling insecure and they’ll shower you with all the praise you could want. For other issues, though, Leo’s advice consists of endless stories about how they handled a similar situation, or what they would do if they were in your shoes, or what they told someone else to do this one time regarding something sort of related to your problem.
And if you listen carefully, you can probably pick out some real gems of wisdom from these tales. However, Leo doesn’t usually listen and understand so much as make royal decrees about how things should be.
10. AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
Aquarius has all the answers to the world’s problems, but they probably don’t know what to do about yours. They’re so caught up in the “big picture” that they just can’t focus on details for very long.
Aquarius cares deeply for only a few people in their life. If you’re one of them, they’ll do their best to help, but you might not like — or even understand — their solutions. They think on a much different level than the rest of us. On the other hand, if your problem is crazy, then Aquarius’ own crazy perspective might be just what you need.
11. ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Need someone to have your back in a fight? Aries will be your greatest ally. Need someone to help get things done once you’ve settled on a plan of action? Aries will move mountains for you.
Just don’t ask Aries to sit down and think about all the fine points of a problem and help you understand the subtle intricacies and emotional connections. Aries’ advice is always going to be “Quit over-thinking everything! Get up and do something about it!”
12. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Why are you telling Sagittarius about this problem? It’s boring. Get rid of it. Mundane daily life situations should be handled as quickly as possible so that we can get on with the more important questions like the quantum nature of the universe, what Aristotle really meant, and whether or not the Gods like cheese.
Also, we’re going to build a log cabin with Aquarius today. Wait, are you still worrying about that same old problem? Hmmm. Hey, do you think we’ll see any bears?
