Who Is Lil Peep? 15 Best Interviews, Song Lyrics & Vidoes About The Emo Rapper Who Died Of An OD
Entertainment And News

Lil Peep, the hugely popular hiphop artist who mixed emo with rap, has died at the age of 21 just prior to 9 p.m. PST on Wednesday, November 15, 2017. The YouTube and Soundcloud star was found unresponsive on his tour bus in Tucson, Arizona.

Sgt. Pete Dugan of the Tuscon Police Department told CNN, "After speaking with people on scene and going into the tour bus, (police) said that there was evidence of a possible drug overdose, most likely from Xanax... Obviously, we're not medical examiners, so there will be an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death [but there was] no sign of any kind of foul play [and police are] treating it as a suspicious death case, most likely from an overdose."

Which doesn't seem at all surprising when you take a look at one of his final photos on Instagram, posted hours before his death:

The talented musician was born on November 1, 1996 in Long Beach, New York as Gustav Åhr, the son of a German/Irish mother and German/Swedish father. His short-lived career as the "Soundcloud rapper" took off with his self-released "mixtapes" on Soundcloud and YouTube in 2016. His first LP. Come Over When You're Sober, had just been released by Warner Music on August 15, 2017.

Here is a compilation of 15 Lil Peep song lyrics, videos and interviews that didn't hint at depression and suicidal ideation, but plainly screamed in pain for help.

1. His last posts on Instagram seem to express suicidal thoughts.

When I die You'll love me

A post shared by @lilpeep on Nov 14, 2017 at 11:16pm PST

Less than 24 hours prior to his death, Lil Peep posted this photo of himself in front a neon sign that reads "Cry Baby" with this caption: "When I die You'll love me"

2. Self-recorded video taken on his tour bus, denying he needs help.

The day prior to his death, Peep captured this video of himself on his tour bus just prior to a concert in El Paso, Texas. Slurring, he says, "El Paso, I took 6 Xanax and now it's lit. I'm good. I'm not sick. Imma see Y'all tonight."

3. "Benz Truck"

"All I ever wanted was a friend
All I ever wanted was a brand new Benz truck
Now I wonder where my friends gon' end up
don't help with the pain, where the drugs at?
Make a few racks, call the plug back

Shelikebaby, where you goin'? When you comin' back?
I'ma be away for a month
When I get back we can f**k
I'ma be away for a lifetime
Everything I say at the right time
Givin girls cocaine, white wine
Everyone afraid of my lifestyle"

4. Interviewed by Russian YouTube channel Fast Food Music.

Peep had a large Russian following, and was interviewed on April 17, 2017, for Russian YouTube channel Fast Food Network. Asked to list his favorite drugs, Peep responded, "Uh, my favorite drugs? Uh... Wheat. Uh... Xanax, Percocet, Lean. It used to be, I used to do a lot of coke, but, eh. Ecstasy, probably. Pretty much everything."

The host then asked if "pills like Xanax and Percocet" actually helps with anxiety and he responded, "The Xanax helps with anxiety, yeah. I mean, that's what it's made for, so. It calms me down... It kept doing that without, like, you know, f**king hurting myself."

And when asked if he'd ever overdosed, he quickly responded, "Yeah, multiple times... I f**king almost died a bunch of times."

5. "Better Off (Dying)"

"Chains on shining, you can see me riding
Cocaine lined up, secrets that I'm hidin'
You don't wanna find out, better off lying
You don't wanna cry now, better off dying
Chains on shining, you can see me riding
Cocaine lined up, secrets that I'm hidin'
You don't wanna find out, better off lying
You don't wanna cry now, better off dyin'"

6. "The Way I See Things"

"I got a feelin' that I'm not gonna be here for next year
lets laugh a little before I'm gone
I’ve been dreamin' of this shit
forawhile now
Got me high now
dont love me, but she's singin' my song
Oh no
I don't feel much pain
Got a knife in my back and a bullet in my brain
I’m clinically insane
Walkin' home alone I see faces in the rain
Where did all the time go?
Spend it gettin' high while I hide from the 5-0
Where did all the lines go?
Now, I'm so high
be f**kin' with my eyes closed
don't f**k with me no more, I'm on her mind though
Come and f**k me in the mornin' with the blinds closed
I can show you everything I learned
While you were away from me"

7. "Awful Things" Featuring Lil Tracy

"Don't you turn your back on me
Let your teardrops fall on me
Speeding away, the city in the rear view
Heart racing whenever I'm near you
Goth Boi jumpin' on stage
Carry me away, carry me away
Burn me down 'til there's nothing left
I will scream your name with my last breath
Take off your favorite dress
Lay your head on my chest
Diamonds, rubies
and gems
You can have all of them"

9. "Problems"

"Spent a lot of time in the background
I know I spent a lot of time in the background
Everytime that we together, I black out
Everytime that we together, she tap out
I remember, but
she part of my past now
I remember all this shit from the past now
Took a pill and we passed out
I made a deal with the devil

You know I got my problems
Know you got yours too
Hold on to my revolver
They ain't looking for you
Oh, girl, don't even bother
Why she act brand new?
Take what the devil offers
I got nothing to lose"

10. Discussing his love of Halloween.

In this clip for Alternative Press Magazine, he spoke about the way Halloween allows you to escape reality.

"Halloween is definitely my favorite holiday. First of all, all the 31 days Halloween or whatever, all the horror movie marathons they have on TV. Everyone gets to dress up however they want to. Be someone else for a night. You know, it's cool. It's like a little day of escape from reality and everyone can just kind of go crazy and you're like 'It's Halloween, you know. It's a good excuse. F**k it. It's Halloween.'"

11. "The Brightside"

"Just look at the brightside (just look at the brightside)
Just look at the club lights (rolling under the club lights)
I gotta look at the
brightside (look at the brightside)
I guess she wasn't the one, right
This isn't what love's like
That's for sure

Help me find a way to pass the time (to pass the time)
Everybody telling me life's short, but I wanna die (I wanna die)
Help me find a way to make you mine (make you mine)
Everybody telling me not to, but I'm gonna try
Now I'm getting high again, tonight"

12. Interview with Lil Tracy and Nedarb

Lil Tracy: "I feel like you never notice how much attention you actually are getting, you know? It's, like, weird."

Lil Peep: "Yeah, because you don't, you don't see people like, in their cars singing your lyrics 'cause you're not f**king there. Especially us. We're just home like, alone, depressed, like, everyone hates us. Meanwhile, everyone's probably not hating us. But, who knows?"

Lil Tracy: "A lot of them are... a lot of them don't."

13. Talking GQ about the "meaning" of his tattoos.

"Dude, I woke up with these tattoos. This says, 'Get cake,' 'Die young.' I woke up with it. I had no idea how I even got it. I was so f**ked up. I literally was just like, 'Alright. That's there."

14. Before he was famous.

The video above includes heartbreaking details from Lil Peeps short life. His father left the family when he was just 14-years-old and they never spoke again, and he first began battling depression and suicidal thoughts some time during high school. At the time this video was published, Peep claimed, "the Internet and underground rap circuit saved his life."

15. "U Said"

"Sometimes life gets f**ked up
That's why we get f**ked up
I can still feel your touch
I still do those same drugs
Sometimes life gets f**ked up
That's why we get f**ked up
I can still feel your touch
I still do those same drugs

That we used to do
I was used to you
"What have you been through?"
She asked me
Every f**king kind of abuse
If you love me too
You would give me you
Lock me in your room
Don't tell me the truth
Everything you said
Stared inside my head
All the sh*t you said
All the blood I bled"
