It's not them, it's you.

You know when you meet someone and you think they’re interesting and great... and then they do something and all that just flies out the window?
We all have some quality or characteristics that turn people off to us. Sometimes these personality traits are innocuous and mostly inoffensive, and no matter how we try to figure out why certain people don’t like us, we never can. Why don't people like my laugh? But my laugh is so big and hearty that it makes other people laugh, too.
Then there are other negative personality traits that we can actually understand why they would turn people off — like if you’re super-demanding or argumentative. You might get why someone might not like you; having that quality but it doesn’t bother you, so why should you get rid of it?
Sometimes people need to be a little more accepting of other people and their personality quirks and a little less judgmental. You are who you are and if people don’t like it, they can suck it.
The worst is when people feel it’s their duty to try and change you, which always leads to semi-disastrous results.
I had a friend who loved to say, “Nice toilet” when speaking of people’s asses. He said it all the time, often in extremely inappropriate circumstances. It was incredibly annoying but if you asked him to stop doing it, he said it more and if you did nothing, he said even more than you ever thought possible.
It got to the point where you had to decide if his friendship was worth tolerating that irritating phrase. In the end, while his way of complimenting someone’s backside was grating, his friends decided his friendship was worth waiting until he finally got tired of saying, which, by the way, took years.

ARIES (March 21 - April 19)

You speak without thinking first and you hurt people's feelings. You don't mean to hurt others but when you're brutally honest, it comes across as insensitive and uncaring. Being blunt isn't always thought of as a positive personality characteristic. Try tempering it a bit and you may be able to save some relationships.

TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)

You won't give in. It feels pointless to engage you in any way as you'll never give up your stance or compromise in any way. There's no discussion or exchange of views with you because you're not open to anybody else's way of thinking. You stand your ground to such a degree that you'll definitely be the last person standing... alone.

GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)

When you gossip about one person to another person, it makes the second person think you're probably talking smack about them behind their back. It makes it difficult to confide in you and it's hard to believe that you wouldn't throw somebody under the bus if it meant a good story to tell.

CANCER (June 21 - July 22)

You're so emotional that you make people feel as if they need to be extremely careful not to upset you. No one wants to feel as if one wrong move by them is going to cause you to have a meltdown. It's very uncomfortable. It's good that you feel all the feels but maybe you could not share every single feeling with everybody.

LEO (July 23 - August 22)

You're a show-off and an attention whore and it's exhausting to be around. It's as if you suck all the energy out of the room with your need for all eyes to be on you. Yes, you're spectacular and dazzling but do you have to be on all the time? Do you ever just chill?
VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)

You get caught up in the details that you miss the big picture. Because you want everything just so and perfect, you tend to forget appointments and while you don't intend to flake on a lunch or dinner date, that's what ends up happening. There are times when things are good enough and you need to be done with them. Once you stand someone up repeatedly because you couldn't get your website exactly right, they're not going to want to make any plans with you whatsoever.

You can come off as super-fake. No, not just the polite kind of fake — the unreal, phony, fake. When people see you as not being real or genuine, they're not going to want to spend any time with you. Fakeness is a turn-off and once you have the reputation as being a wannabe phony, no one is going to want to hang out with you.

SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)

You never forget a grudge or a slight. There are some things you need to let go of for your own sake and the sakes of others. The way you are being vengeful and hanging on to that kind of negativity just zaps your energy and depresses you. If people are too afraid of your wrath, they're never going to want to get close to you.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)

You may love the world and its people but everything you do is you-focused. You're very self-centered and it makes people feel as if you're not that interested in what they have to say, even if you know that you should occasionally ask how they are. You're so self-involved, there's barely any room left for other people.

You can be a little too pessimistic — nobody wants to be around a Debbie Downer all the time. It's easier and more fun to be around people who are hopeful and in good moods rather than have to listen to all the gloom and doom you focus on.

You like to stir up controversy where there isn't any. Sometimes you just like to go against what everybody else is doing or thinking to show how unique you are. We get it. You're not like other people, but do you have to to be so contrary? Being antagonistic for sport is only enjoyable for you, not for anybody else.

You tune out and it's annoying trying to pull you back into the here and now. We get that you have a rich imagination and you prefer your dreams to reality, but it's difficult being in a conversation with you when you mentally wander off. You make people feel as if they're not interesting enough to hold your attention.
