How To Use The Full Snow Moon In Leo Energy Of February 9, 2020 To Plan The Best Valentine's Day Ever

Wouldn’t it be totally romantic to gaze at a beautiful Full Moon with your sweetie on Valentine’s Day?

Sorry, not this year! In fact, that powerful combination only happens once every 19 years or so. The last time there was Full Moon on Valentine's Day was in 2014, and the next one won’t occur until 2033.

But you can still tap into the Full Snow Moon energy of February 9, 2020 to plan an uber-dreamy Valentine's Day celebration with your favorite snuggle partner.

What astrological wisdom can all zodiac signs draw from the Full Snow Moon in Leo arriving just before Valentine's Day?

Full moons occur when the Sun and Moon are in opposite signs of the zodiac, and of all eight phases of the moon, the Full Moon is the one most associated with love and romance.

How convenient that it falls just a few days before Valentine’s Day this year to inspire you!

On this particular Full Moon, the Sun will be in the sign of Aquarius, while the Moon will be in the sign of Leo.

In astrology, the Moon represents your emotions and your intuition. With the Moon in fiery Leo, you’ve got an extra dose of passion, magnetism and creativity this month.

Leo also knows how to have a good time and loves to just play. But while there’s certainly a playful, fun side to Leo, it’s also all about passion, generosity, optimism and loyalty.

Leo’s symbol is the Lion — the King or Queen of the Jungle — so you can draw on that majestic, courageous and magnetic vibe as well during this Leo Full Moon phase.

Did I mention that Leo is ruled by the Sun in astrology? That would definitely account for the Leo urge to be the center of attention and to literally shine.

When the Moon is in Leo, people born under all zodiac signs may feel more dramatic, confident and expressive.

We also need to remember the other side of the February 2020 Full Snow Moon equation — the Sun in Aquarius.

When we’re talking about the Full Moon, the emphasis is obviously on what zodiac sign the moon falls in. But unlike New Moons, when both the Sun and Moon are in the same sign, you can bring the Sun's different cosmic flavor when you’re playing with Full Moon energy.

With Uranus as its ruler, Aquarius is all about being quirky, eccentric and even rebellious. I often refer to it as the “gotta be me” zodiac sign.

Aquarian energy is also progressive, visionary and humanitarian. During Aquarius season, which runs from January 20th to February 18th this year, you may be drawn to rally people around your favorite cause or social justice project.

How can you weave together all of these cosmic ingredients surrounding the Full Snow Moon as you plan a magical Valentine’s Day celebration?

Normally, I’d say to tap into the symbols associated with Leo while creating Full Moon love magic.

But since Valentine’s Day has its own fabulous love symbolism to work with, let’s go with that:

  • Colors: red, pink, white
  • Gemstones: rose quartz, moonstone, jade, lapis
  • Flowers: roses, tulips, carnations (red for deep love, white for undying devotion)
  • Essential Oils: ylang-ylang, clary sage, rose, sandalwood, neroli, ginger
  • Music: sultry love songs
  • Food/Drink: aphrodisiac foods like oysters, caviar, chocolate, pomegranate, red wine, champagne

Whether you decide to cuddle up at home in your own little love nest or go out for a special night on the town, definitely incorporate some of these ideas into your V-Day celebration to bring it to a deeper level.

That said, you can also embrace the energy of the Leo Full Moon in your actual planning process.

Any beautiful love-fest needs a pre-planned, well-executed strategy! You wouldn’t show up on your wedding day and expect everything to just flow, would you?

Besides, Full Moon energy is totally compatible with Valentine’s Day to begin with. And remember, you don’t have to wait until a year when they fall on the same day to take advantage of their combined love-boosting qualities.

Here are 5 ideas for things to do together in order to harness the romantic Full Snow Moon in Leo energy and plan your best Valentine’s Day ever.

1. Create a romantic meal at home.

Try out creating a menu combining those aphrodisiac foods mentioned above at home, and then slide into a rose or ylang ylang-infused bath — or head straight to the bedroom!

Be sure to surround yourself with all love-related scents, colors, and flowers. And don’t forget to play some sultry music to heighten the mood. Prepare a playlist full of sexy love songs — anything from Peggy Lee’s “Fever” to “Shallow” sung by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

Get creative and playful, in true Leo form.

2. Plan a dramatic night out.

You could take Leo’s playfulness and creativity in another direction and make reservations at a fancy restaurant where you can feed each other oysters and caviar.

After dinner, head to the theater or opera to literally tap into the drama that Leo loves. Or, if one of you feels the urge to be in the limelight yourself, find a great place for some karaoke.

Whatever you do, let your Leo lion(ess) flag fly and strut your stuff!

3. Reconnect with your inner child and play!

Leo is always up for a dance party. Whether it’s intimate and cheek-to-cheek in your living room or going wild at your favorite nightclub, make it playful and joyous.

You can also embrace the play metaphor in a different way. Plan a day-long activity that you both love to do, romance-related or not. Maybe try something you haven’t done in a while, like bowling or going to the zoo, or something that’s on your mutual bucket list, like riding in a hot air balloon or taking a dance class together.

Remember, the emphasis here is on being together, so be sure to go with an idea you’ll both really enjoy.

4. Get creative in the bedroom.

Obviously, the vibe of Valentine’s Day is all about love, but how can you not include great sex in the equation?

The cosmos help out yet again here because on the big day itself, the Moon — which changes zodiac signs every two and a half days — will be in Scorpio, the zodiac sign governing sex and passion.

Of the three feelings-oriented water signs — Cancer and Pisces are the other two — Scorpio is definitely the most sensual and body-related. So, when the Moon is in Scorpio, it’s the perfect time for trying out new ideas for deepening emotional connections through lovemaking.

And what a nice boost that it happens right on Valentine’s Day this year!

5. Engage in a social justice-related activity together.

What does this have to do with romance, you ask? Remember that the Sun is in Aquarius this month and a key element of Aquarian energy is that it can stoke your humanitarian instincts. While this may not sound terribly sexy, the emphasis here is, once again, on doing it together.

As one example, a global event called One Billion Rising takes place every year on Valentine's Day. Started in 2012, it’s basically an organized dance party held on the streets of various cities all over the world to demand an end to gender-based violence. It was originally conceived by the playwright Eve Ensler, creator of the groundbreaking “Vagina Monologues.”

You can check out the organization's website to see if there’s an OBR event near you. I’ll be dancing and rising in New York City on February 14. How about you?

Whatever you decide to do for Valentine’s Day this year, consider tapping into the energy of the Full Snow Moon in Leo on February 9 to broaden your possibilities.

Whatever direction you go in — playful, dramatic, activist or sexy — make a conscious effort to do something a little different.

Take some time to plan new ways to connect with your partner whether you’ve been together four months or 40 years!
