The series — which is based on the novel of the same name by Kristin Hannah — was created by Maggie Friedman and stars Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke.
Firefly Lane follows the lives of best friends Tully Hart — a famous host of a daytime talk show — and Kate Malarkey — a housewife trying to get back in the workforce while going through a divorce — from their teenage years in the 1970s, all the way through their adulthood in the early-2000s.
Over the years they struggle with familial matters, strive to succeed in their careers, and eventually fall in love.

Like many Scorpios, 14-year-old Tully was very secretive, hiding things from her friends and family alike. This wasn't always a bad thing, however, as she kept Sean's secret — that he was gay — her entire life.
She was a true friend to Kate, protecting her from bullies and even giving her the pants she's wearing when Kate gets her first period at school.
