getty I'm up before dawn, coffee in hand, at my desk, ready to start my work day. I'm an early bird and a Sagittarius, though don't count on any other Sagittarians for this trait. I just happen to roll with it naturally, as I'm a true "day person."
But still, that doesn't mean "day people" rise early. Only the very special amongst us get in line for this kind of masochism.
Being an early riser, also known as an "early bird," is not something that can be forced; you either are one, or you're not, and if you're not, we all know what that looks like. You complain, you shut off the snooze, you mentally prepare all the excuses you can to remain asleep and, eventually, you get up, resenting life and all it has to offer.
Then, when we consider astrology, there are the early birds zodiac signs, who catch the worm and greet the day with open arms.
Well, okay, I do exaggerate — early birds can't help but get up early because it's in our nature. And that's the whole point: you're either an early bird, or you're not, and, believe it or not, the zodiac holds influence on this particular human action.

1. Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Good morning, Cancer. Nope, we're not going to find early bird tendencies in those previous signs (Aries, Taurus or Gemini), but here, in Cancer, oh yes.
You love to watch the sunrise and you adore the morning rituals. You're one to pray, to light candles; you love the peace and silence of the early morning hours because it's a feeling akin to being all alone in the world, in a safe place. Mornings are bliss for you, Cancer.
2. Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Business as usual, Capricorn is the early bird you want to be. If you've ever wondered how people can get up that early and be that productive, you're probably wondering about a Capricorn.
They love the work ethic and they respect it, and if it demands a grueling schedule with an obscene wake-up call, they're in all the way. No regrets here — why bother sleeping in when there's money to be made out there in the early bird world?
3. Virgo (August 23 - September 22)

5. Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Lazy Leo will surprise you here. You may think the King of the Jungle would want to lay in bed until the sun goes down, but you'd be wrong. Leo wants to get a fresh and early start on the day, because whatever day it is, it's going to be a great one.
