More like a mother than a partner.

Interesting how the word "smother" includes the word "mother," and how often times we associate mothering with smothering.
Here's the kicker: some of us want to be mothered/smothered. The idea of being mothered in a romantic relationship brings up images of some stereotypical screeching, nagging woman who is yelling at her poor, brow beaten partner. We envision mothering as either controlling or oppressive; it's filled with tough love and disapproval, and it's always the authority, no matter what.
Which motherly zodiac signs in astrology tend to devote themselves to their partners?
Well, one doesn't have to be a mother or even female to be mothering; in fact, to mother one's partner is pretty common. He or she who mothers their partner is someone who declares that they are the final word, the ultimate advisor, and the "one who really knows you." They also tend to yell and tell you what to do.
Sounds like a nightmare... unless, of course, the partnership is built on that kind of mutual need. Some people want to be mothered, and some want to do the mothering. And the interesting part? Most people find the one they need to do the work they want done.
To mother your partner isn't only about control; ironically, it's about love and wanting only the best for your person.
1. SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
You make a terrible mother, Scorpio, but nonetheless, in relationships, you definitely tend to overly mother. The problem is that you really don't suggest anything other than what you want, or what you think is right. You don't leave room for anyone else's opinion, and you stomp all over your partner's desire to do anything that you don't want anything to do with.
You mother people like a cop; you forget to be loving, though you believe in your head that you're only looking out for their welfare. Truth is, you mother people into leaving you.
2. VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
With so very little that you can control in this world, Virgo, when you finally nail down a mate, you go into Black Ops Mother Mode. That means you own your mate. Your partner is not just your partner — they are your significant other, and that means you must control them and make them work for you, your way or the highway.
You adore the security of having a partner; you're the first one to get married and signed, sealed and delivered. But once the contract is created, you're the boss from that date forward. You want to keep your partner for a lifetime, so you make sure you dress them, feed them, take them out, and tell them what to do.
3. CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
You're a natural mother in regards to how you treat the people in your life, especially your partner. You fall into that belief that your partner is somewhat your responsibility; you need to make sure they're doing the right thing so that it doesn't reflect poorly on you.
You tend to mother your partner because you believe it raises your value, makes you more important and therefore indispensable. You mother and smother your partner so that they eventually break down so totally that they depend on your for the rest of their lives.
4. LEO (July 23 - August 22)
It's a fire sign thing. You blaze with the flames of dominance, and when you find yourself in a serious partnership, only you can protect and embolden the hierarchy that heads up with you and works its way down through your partner, then your children. You mother the heck out of your partner, mainly because you need to control them.
Yes, you love and adore your person, but you get it into your mind that they would be happier if they did things your way, and so, you mother them into being tiny version of your own self. You want to be proud of them, so you don't take any chances letting them be themselves; you make sure they do it the "right way," meaning "your" way.
5. ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
You can't be as strong-minded and hard headed as any Aries and not fall into mothering your partner. You may even become a bit of a screeching Harpy, perhaps even bullying and pushy, but you do it out of love, and you sincerely want your partner to be the best they can be.
You don't perceive yourself as annoying or obnoxious, which is definitely what you are; you see yourself as wise, helpful, supportive — and you really are. It's just hard to be yelled at all the time, Aries, so take the mothering down a notch or twenty and we'll all be better off.
6. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
You love to mother your partner, and, if given the chance, you'd be the mom to every person who passes in front of you. You have endless amounts of advice and opinions galore, all ready to be shared.
What's good about the way you mother is that you're pretty funny; humor is a huge Sagittarius thing, but you also have way too much nerve and you push people away from you with your "concern." What happens is that you unconsciously inspire others to mother you right back, which can become quite hilarious as your house of co-dependency grows into iconic status.
