You'll never know what they're really like.

Could you just imagine being in a relationship where you don't know how to be yourself, and you hide it from your partner? While that may sound farfetched and implausible, especially considering that most relationship advice warns against it, it's more common that you would think.
Our personalities in astrology may have a lot to do with why some zodiac signs hide their true selves. And whatever it is that drives us to get into a relationship may also be what holds us back within the very same relationship.
Say, for instance, you feel a bit neurotic about your looks. You want your partner to approve of you, you want them to desire you and compliment you. But what if you gain weight? Or, lose too much weight? What if you get old and it shows?
Yes, all the things that naturally happen to a person are the things that you might want to hide from your partner, if you believe they might reject you for just being you.
It starts with looks and can expand into finances; you don't want your partner to think you're not on the ball, providing the goods and bringing home the bacon. But what if you lose your job? Some folks won't even tell their spouse they've lost their job because they think they will be judged and rejected for it.
We go into relationships with ideals, and once we learn that ideals rarely live up to anything, we want to hide that fact that we, ourselves, are not ideal. And, perhaps, don't live up to the expectations our partner has placed upon us.
We hide our true selves because we are afraid to be real, and we fear this because we fear rejection. "What if being myself isn't that great? What if I show my true nature and no one likes me?"
Which zodiac signs hide their true selves in a relationship?
1. VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgo is a truly good friend and a really deceptive lover. As a partner, you might think you know what's on their mind , but the truth is, you don't and you never will. Virgo will do what they need to do to hold on to you — they need your money, your support and your approval.
However, they do not need you to know who they are, and what little they do give up will still remain a mystery to you. Virgo is a self-protective sign; they'll do what's needed to secure their place in the relationship, but you'll never know who it is that you're involved in, as they only share their true selves with the people they believe are "the finest." Oddly, romantic relationships never rank with "the finest."
2. CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
If you are in a relationship with a Cancer, you are already being lied to, as this sign rarely reveals who they really are or what they really are thinking. Cancer is a treacherous sign; they will turn on you, and they will judge your severely. If you do not please the Cancer, you will be left flat, tossed out with the garbage.
Remember, this unforgiving sign has very little patience with you or your need to know them better. They give what they give of themselves, and even though it's very limited, they're prepared to give even less should you do such a thing as want more. You won't get it. They do not let go of their façade.
3. AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
This sign is super private and they feel it's not necessary to put that much trust in another person, as trust would come with revealing their true selves. If Aquarius shows their true self, they show how intolerant and bigoted they are; their true self will be someone you'll want to avoid. So, if they want friends and lovers, their best bet is to hide their real face and just "give the people what they want."
They like having friends, and they just have no intention of signing on for more than a superficial experience. Aquarius doesn't even know who they are themselves; they're still en route to finding that one out.
4. LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
There is no knowing a Libra. They are loners, elusive, and they lie like rugs. What you believe about the nature of your Libra lover is just the fantasy they're provided for you. They have never once shown you their true selves because if they did, you'd run for the hills and beg for shock treatment.
Libra shows you what you want to see because if they showed who they really are, you wouldn't like them, and that would rock the boat, a thing Libra cannot deal with. They want smooth sailing all the time; no complaints, no dissension. To maintain this kind of stability, Libra will lie to you for years and years.
5. PISCES (February 19 - March 10)
Pisces don't really want you to get too close, but they do want love and relationship. As partners, you'll find yourself adoring their every move; they are kindness itself, but that's just a front for the neurotic mess they are hiding inside.
Pisces is way too delicate to put themselves out there, and if they do, they always regret it. If you knew what could hurt a Pisces, you'd use it against them, so, instead, they simply avoid reality by being overly nice and hyper concerned about you. If the focus goes to them, you'll never see the real person, only the kind-hearted fake they want you to see.
6. GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
Gemini finds is excruciatingly hard to show their true selves under virtually every circumstance, so it can be expected in a romantic relationship. With Gemini as your lover/partner, you will never really know who it is you are in love with.
They may give you a sign here or there, but the truth is, Gemini has so much to hide that they don't even find it necessary to reveal much more than what they're willing to give. Gemini is a cold, mysterious sign. They do crave love and affection, they're just not willing to give it. Not from the heart, at least.
