getty We’ve all had that one friend who is emotionally draining. There’s always a crisis or an issue they are desperate to have you help solve. Their moods go from one extreme to another — they’re happy one moment and completely depressed the next.
You want to be a good friend and be there for them, but being around emotional vampires is exhausting. And whether or not you believe in astrology, the stars play some kind of role in who the emotionally exhausting zodiac signs are, and why they behave this way.
No matter how much you want to be there for your friend or family member, there’s only so long you can deal with their moods and drama before they start to affect you as well. You need to take care of yourself first, but after spending so much energy trying to bring them down off of their emotional ledge, you’re spent.
When you’re involved with emotional vampires like this, the relationship can become toxic, especially if you’re the only one doing any giving. You know you can no longer be part of the supporting cast for your friend and that you have to disengage yourself from them before they suck all the life out of you.
There’s a reason that people like this are sometimes called emotional vampires.
1. PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
Pisces are emotionally exhausting because they don't just want help in dealing with their own problems, they take on other people's problems as well. Yes, it's very sad what happened to your friend of a friend, but can we just work on what's bothering you without adding the problems of the world to it?
Pisces care too deeply, are too selfless, and end up stressed out and upset.
2. CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancers might be too in touch with their emotions because sometimes they turn into emotional messes. It's exhausting to go through the cycle of moods and feelings that Cancers go through.
You never know if you're on their good list or their bad list. It may feel as if you're always working to get back into Cancer's good graces, and that usually entails being there when they're in a crisis, which feels like all the time.
3. SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpio isn't going to burden you with all their feelings; they tend to be a bit mysterious about what's going on with them. It's more about the intensity of their feelings, who betrayed them, and who Scorpio is madly in love with and can't live without.
It can sometimes feel impossible for Scorpio to just chill out and relax. There's always some conflict brewing that they want you to be a part of.
4. VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Virgos can also be an emotional minefield, and you never know when you might set them off. Virgos can be critical, both of themselves and other people. It's easy to feel as if Virgo is judging you and finding you lacking.
Being around a perfectionist may cause you to try to be perfect yourself. But no one is perfect, and trying to be will only lead to frustration and anxiety.
5. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
When you're in the life of a Sagittarius, they will demand many things from you: you must be their cheerleader, supporter, emotional pick-me-up. You have to praise them, put their needs first, and act as if they're the most important person in the world to you — anything less and Sagittarius will feel cheated.
You will spend so much time making sure they're happy that it will be easy to forget your own needs. These individuals can be emotionally exhausting but will never recognize it.
6. ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries are emotionally exhausting because you never know when they're going to strike and say something really cutting or mean. You can get lulled into this false sense that everything is cool and that there's no drama with Aries, and then, out of nowhere, they'll be brutally blunt.
Don't worry — they'll apologize very soon after, but it will seem like you're on an emotional rollercoaster and you'll have this feeling that, at some point, you're going to set them off again.
