The Celestial Lovers Mars & Venus Are Meeting This Week — What It Means For You

As if this week wasn’t exciting enough with our dynamic and powerful full moon in Aries, we also have Mars and Venus adding more fuel to our passion-filled fires.

Think of Mars and Venus as the celestial lovers in the sky, and at certain times they form conjunctions or dance together, igniting the energies of love and balance here on earth. We’ve all heard that men are from Mars and women are from Venus, right? Well, there is actually a greater meaning behind that popular phrase.

The exact meeting of these two planets is the same day as our full moon, yet the energies of this will last for the next two years.

The essence of a Venus-Mars conjunction is that it initiates a new cycle in relationships, so although full moons often are about endings, we have this special planetary alignment smack dab in the middle letting us know that maybe we’re going to have both an ending and a beginning.

Venus and Mars repeat their cycles and patterns and this one will echo back to 1985, in which many of us were still playing with our Barbies and G.I. Joes happily oblivious to any sort of relationship drama. But the question for us to ask is: Even as children, were we already becoming conditioned for a specific pattern of relationships?

For many of us, we need to work through certain lessons and areas of relationships in order to actually move ahead into a more healthy and balanced partnership. Basically, we have to walk through the darkness in order to get to the light.

The past couple of years have been all about finding ourselves and learning how to have the courage to walk closer with our deeply rooted authenticity, which means now that we’ve learned these lessons for ourselves, it’s time to have a relationship that reflects that.

We’ve all heard the catchphrase that it takes a strong man to handle a strong woman, and while the feminist dialogue could debate the logic of such a statement, the truth is that we only enter into the relationships that we think we deserve.

If we doubt our worthiness when it comes to unconditional love and acceptance then we will continually attract those people who challenge us to love ourselves deeper. Yet, likewise, once we finally step into a place of clearer focus about who we are and the goals that surround us, we will be able to welcome that conscious healthy love into our lives.

This is the beginning of just such a cycle.

As the celestial lovers, Venus and Mars govern attraction, love, and relationships. Mars is at home in Aries and Venus in Libra. With Mars ruling the 1st house and Venus ruling the 7th house of our astrology charts, this conjunction is quite literally about how we mesh with one another.

While it will be evident with any sort of partnership — because of the influences Mars and Venus have over our hearts — there will be strong influences in our romantic lives. It’s not just about being able to see what isn’t working because, quite frankly, that’s what the astrology back in August and September was all about.

This alignment is like the universe saying, “Alright, aren't you done with the past yet? You’ve got this brand new beginning just waiting for you! What is taking you so long?”

For many of us we might finally be in the place to take advantage of it, but for others, we will have to wait until the new moon in Libra in just a few weeks to actually get that new beginning in love that we know is already on its way. The thing to remember is that whether we’re able to jump into something new this week or have to wait until the timing is better, this new cycle in love is going to start with or without us.

This beginning will be about a greater sense of balance within our love lives which also means that we will be able to feel, identify and embrace the divine feminine and masculine qualities of ourselves and with our partners.

Venus represents the feminine and Mars the masculine. These two planets are all about relating not just to one another, but also serve as a metaphor for these qualities we all have within us and in our primary relationship as well.

Mars likes to do, preferably now, and is very action-orientated. Venus, on the other hand, is more subtle and discriminates about what she does or doesn’t like. Their polarity is what actually achieves their balance.

In our love lives we need to experience that same magnetic attraction or sense of polarity. This idea is about the yin and yang — not just of that inside of us, but also in those unions that we choose to participate in. No one wants to be with someone that is just like us and it’s this energy that Mars and Venus remind us of. A man doesn’t fall for a woman because of how masculine she is; rather, he falls for her shining sense of femininity, and the same is true for women.

It’s not about equal rights but about our biological desire to come together with someone who balances us out, which is going to become more of a conscious need with these two planets beginning a new dance in the sky.

This next cycle in relationships will be healthier, more balanced, less about learning what we deserve and more about enjoying what we have worked for. There will be more risk and chances taken in order to try to achieve that ideal relationship, and because of that there will also be a jump in personal growth.

More partners will be connecting through deep conversations about the spiritual or metaphysical, and will also be gravitating more toward those partners that embrace the qualities of the divine feminine and masculine.

This time isn’t about waiting for what you deserve but about realizing it’s already yours. All you have to do is make the choice to begin; after all, even the best of adventures need to start somewhere.
