What Mars In Sagittarius Means For Us And The Men That We Love

We can’t mistake that it’s a new year once this new bolt of energy strikes us! When Mars moves into Sagittarius on January 3rd, it will ignite a fire within our zodiac signs that had long since died out. Mars will remain in this zodiac sign until February 16, 2020.

In astrology, Mars is the planet of action and ambition; it’s also the planet that governs the divine masculine, no matter which gender we associate with. When this planet moves through different signs, we feel a change in energy within us, our lives, and even the men in our lives.

Mars in Sagittarius will affect our love horoscopes, relationships, and the bond we have with the men we love.

While we all have masculine energy within us, those who identify predominately with that gender are always more affected by these transits, just as women are greatly affected by the transits of Venus — not just the planet of love, but also representative of the divine feminine.

Mars is at home in Aries because it’s a spontaneous planet. It's often known for acting first and thinking second. It’s determined almost to a fault and can at times be downright stubborn or even violent on its quest to get its way. While Mars can make tempers flare and fuses shorten, it really represents the drive we feel internally to not just go after our deepest dreams and desires, but to have a hand in making them a reality.

Sagittarius is a fellow fire sign like Aries, but it’s more tempered. Where Aries likes to rush in, Sagittarius likes to look at the bigger picture. Sagittarius thinks more globally and doesn’t want to let the little things get to him because he's more concerned about not being held back than he is necessarily being right or validated by others.

Mars in Sagittarius wants to go further and experience more. It doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned. It’s not as focused on the little things, doesn’t care about being angry, or even if something doesn’t work out because it has greater plans. When Mars is in this zodiac sign, it’s not just that the sky is the limit, but that there is no limit.

There is nothing to hold us back or keep us from pushing through any limits. There is nothing that makes our fear more important than our faith.

Mars in Sagittarius doesn’t want to experience everything and go everywhere, but it’s looking for meaning. It’s looking for purpose, for a reason why, and the knowledge there’s more to chasing paychecks; whatever we’re doing means something. Not just to us personally, but to the collective.

Because of Sagittarius' spiritual nature, he's more concerned about his path benefitting others. It’s a zodiac sign that understands success isn’t just about his happiness.

The balance to this, of course, is that because of the need to travel, roam, and experience, it's also unlikely that Sagittarius will let anyone hold him back from doing anything, including starting a brand new life. So perhaps it’s not just about wanting others to be happy, but rather, how Sagittarius spins his story to not just justify his actions but to encourage others to not rely on him for their happiness.

Sagittarius rebels from clingy or needy, and while for the undeveloped Sagittarius he will want that superficial reassurance from someone who is dependent upon him, Mars in Sagittarius is grown and doesn’t have time for anything that holds him back. For men or women, this is about spreading our wings in the new year and removing ourselves from anything that feels like it no longer fits.

But it doesn’t mean that the men in our lives won’t be affected differently or more deeply. Those that identify strongly with masculine energy will be especially sensitive to anything that even remotely restricts their freedom. While breakups are often common post-New Year’s, Mars in Sagittarius may amplify that normal energy wave that we usually ride during this time.

We are inspired to want to take in more experiences and to step out of our comfort zones. So for those that end up seeing a breakup around this time, the best advice is to have patience.

Sometimes, what we think of as the ultimate end is only the pause between chapters. So, if the man in your life says that he needs time, or that he’s unsure what he wants, he’s really saying that he’s looking for greater meaning and needs to figure things out in his own life first before he can think of sharing that life with you.

It may be permeant, or it may change as we move through the month. After all, this is occurring during that eclipse window between the Solar and Lunar Eclipse when anything can happen and usually does.

But Mars moving into Sagittarius is also about teaching our zodiac signs to accept.

Whatever moment we’re in is exactly where we’re supposed to be, and whether a breakup is permeant doesn’t matter; what matters is that we’re still seizing those opportunities Sagittarius-style, and making the most of every moment.

This is a time for us to not just expand, but to learn, to take in, and experience new situations, new ways of thinking, and new philosophies (one of Sagittarius’ favorite words). It's time to let life change us so we can’t be afraid when it does.

As Mars moves into Sagittarius, this is a time for us to be moved, to be challenged and to grow. A chance for us to go where we feel called, and to start listening to our intuition again; that internal feeling of what we feel most passionate about, knowing that for each of us, it’s unique, so our purpose in life is always tied to it.

Life is meant to be explored and experienced. And Mars in Sagittarius is that push for all of us to take that jump and make the most of every moment.
