They do a lot of self-reflection.

Brooding is such a romance novel description. How many times is the hero described as brooding? I’m fairly certain that Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights is brooding, and so is Mr. Rochester in Jane Eyre. We like our tragic heroes to be misunderstood.

There are a few ways we can define brooding: someone who shows deep unhappiness of thought; sullenly thoughtful, contemplative, musing, moody, meditative; a person who appears slightly menacing. In other words, if you’re brooding, you have the weight of the world on your shoulders, a painful past, overwhelming emotional challenges, and are the strong silent type.

But using astrology, who are the most brooding zodiac signs? If you’re someone who easily lets go of past hurts or is genuinely happy most of the time, you’re probably not brooding. A brooding person thinks about the past constantly — and in a very non-forgiving way. They tend to overthink everything that has happened to them in the past but also in the present.

Brooding people crave understanding, though they may not realize it and it can be hard to get past the walls they’ve built around themselves. They may seem uncaring, but it’s usually because they care too much and they’ve been hurt because of it. Not all brooding people are broken; sometimes all they need is someone to listen, be patient, and care for them without expectation.

When someone is deep in thought a good deal of the time, they may find it difficult to make simple decisions. Nothing is ever easy for a brooder.

1. VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)

It's some of Virgo's best qualities — like their attention to details, their analytical mind, and their intelligence — that makes them prone to brooding. Virgos will think about a past event and fixate on it so they can barely think about anything else.

The more they think about it, the more upset they get, as if they're reliving it all over again. They aren't great at brushing things off and letting them go.

2. TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)

Taurus tend to think things out thoroughly, and sometimes they spend a little too much time and energy on those thoughts. Taurus often find themselves brooding. They're very contemplative, reflective, and inclined to overthink or have their thoughts affect their moods.

There are times when Taurus thinks too much, and the weight of their deep thoughts will influence how they feel about themselves and their lives.

3. SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)

Scorpios are brooding and all those thoughts can cause them to be moody and unhappy. If a Scorpio is brooding over a perceived betrayal, it can lead to them taking some kind of negative action.

Brooding people often come off as menacing, and that's Scorpio when all their thinking leads to thoughts of vengeance and payback. Scorpios are sensitive and can take something small and turn it into a huge hurt.

4. CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)

When Capricorn broods, it's usually over a mistake they think they've made. All their brooding and ruminating can impair Capricorn's decision-making abilities and their usual gift for problem-solving.

It's almost as if too much thinking causes self-doubt and insecurity. Overthinking to such an extent can cause Capricorn to feel helpless which isn't a feeling that Capricorn is comfortable with and it tends to hit them hard.

5. GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)

You might think that brooding would cause Gemini to be able to focus, but it does the opposite. Thinking too much not only affects Gemini's mood but it distracts them as well.

The funny thing is that to break their brooding, they must do something that intentionally distracts them like an online crossword puzzle, updating their social media, or going for a walk. Once they've stopped their cycle of brooding, Geminis are able to clear their mind and get back on a healthier track.
