getty A copycat is someone who mimics or imitates someone else. Think of that friend of yours who is always copying the way you dress or the things you say. Not all copycats are doing it to steal your life; in fact, some do it because they feel lost or want to feel closer to you.
But then there are the super-competitive copycats who imitate you to one-up you. You can generally put copycats into two categories: the ones that admire you, and the ones who are jealous of you.
There are certain copycat zodiac signs who believe imitation is a form of flattery. But not every sign in astrology is cut out for this lifestyle; most have their own unique style and are trendsetters, not copycats.
But how do you handle a copycat? Do you just bite your tongue and hope they get bored and stop, or do you confront them? Once you’ve determined what their true motive is in trying to be like you, it’s a good idea to look at how their copying you makes you feel.
If you’re flattered that someone sees you as a role model, just take a deep breath and look at it as a huge compliment. If they're trying to be a better version of you and stealing your ideas and getting the credit for them, you need to shut them down.
1. CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
When a Cancer copies somebody, they usually do it out of love. They think so highly of the person that they're imitating, they may not even realize they're doing it and would be shocked if they were called out on it.
Sometimes the things Cancers copy are the other person's emotions. They're extremely empathic and they care so deeply about what the other person is feeling that they take on those emotions too. While this is sensitive on Cancer's part, they really don't need to take on other people's feelings when they already have so many of their own.
2. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Sagittarians are chameleons — they're incredibly adaptable, which is why they're able to blend in so well with new people and new customs. It's not that they don't have any personality or style of their own, it's just that they're able to effortlessly fit in and part of the reason is that they're extremely aware of what the people around them are doing.
When a Sagittarius is mirroring someone else, it tends to flatter the other person and warms them to this zodiac sign. We tend to like people who remind us of ourselves.
3. LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Yes, Libras can be major copycats. Libras don't always feel safe in being different from everybody else, so they like to find someone who is always on point and copy them. Libras don't like failing, and if someone else is making something work, they are okay adapting it like it was their own.
Copycatting is an easy way to keep things harmonious. The Libra copycat isn't going to steal your idea and pass it off as theirs, but they may take on your hopes and dreams for themselves. Most Libra copycats are doing it out of admiration because you've inspired them; they're not trying to steal your life.
4. PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
Pisces are easily influenced by others, so it's not surprising that they might be a copycat. They're the type of copycat who will friend and follow all your inner circle so they can easily become part of it. Your favorite things will become their favorite things. Don't be surprised if they follow your Instagram and turn up at the place you just posted about.
Pisces are sensitive, and they sometimes have a hard time being confident. If they act like someone they think is killing it at life, it will help them be more confident and secure in their own personality.
5. GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
Geminis tend to be copycats but they probably don't see it. There are times when a Gemini will claim an idea is theirs when clearly it's someone else's, and all Gemini has done is tweaked it a little. In their mind, they've completely changed it and it has morphed into something entirely different.
This kind of thinking can get Gemini in trouble. The good news is that if they are twinning somebody, it probably won't last for long because they can get bored so easily. Conversely, as much as a Gemini may imitate others, people imitate them just as much.
