Hey, gossip girl, maybe it's time to stop your constant babbling because you talk too much. And if you’re like me and are one of the talkative zodiac signs, you can have trouble shutting up. Though you won't listen to your horoscope when it tells you to stay mum, astrology can provide guidance.

There are definite downsides when you talk too much. If we never shut up or allow others to speak, our talking can ruin our relationships, create tension in our family dynamic, cause our co-workers to not want to work on a project with us, prevent us from getting promoted at work, or possibly get us fired.

You may not even be aware that you talk too much — you may think you talk just as much as the average person and don't realize that you monopolize every conversation. When you are constantly talking about yourself, you come off as self-centered, conceited, and boring.

Sharing is good, but oversharing is tedious and may cause people to do whatever they can to avoid having a one-sided conversation with you. Perhaps you rarely talk about yourself and spend most of your time gossiping about others. There needs to be a balance between talking too much, talking too little, and having appropriate content to talk about.

1. GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)

Communication is Gemini's thing and they love to talk. It doesn't matter if they're having a deep conversation about their feelings with a friend or pontificating about their latest ideas on how to save the world, Geminis just keep talking. They converse with everyone: clerks at the drugstore, people on the train, their boss, and everybody else.

The first thing they need to do in order to improve is to recognize that they're an oversharer. If they can become aware of how much they talk, they'll be able to see it as a bad habit that they need to change. Hopefully, they won't need to explain to everyone they meet how they're trying to talk less or that will defeat the purpose.

2. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)

Sagittarius get very excited when it comes to new people and new things and they can get overly talkative. They consider all pauses awkward and will fill up that space with their own voice easily. They can get a little annoying when they're in "joke mode" and get determined to make someone laugh. They don't seem to care if it's an appropriate time for their humor or not.

Sagittarius need to become more sensitive to the cues that people are giving off. If Sagittarius is talking and the other people in the conversation are just going through the motion of listening with a few weak smiles, unenthusiastic okays, and they look bored, they need to back off and let someone else talk. A good conversation is made up of both give and take, not when Sagittarius just does all the talking.

3. LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)

Libras can definitely be overly talkative and tell too many personal details of their lives to complete strangers. The Libra individual may feel like if they're open and honest, a bond between them and another person will form quicker; however, too much too soon can put some people off.

Libra needs to cultivate a bit of mystery about them and hold back some of their personal information so other people will be intrigued and want to learn more about them. Sometimes the less we say, the more interesting we become to our friends, co-workers, partners, and even our family.

4. ARIES (March 21 - April 19)

When an Aries talks too much, they tend to get reckless. They tell people exactly what they think, even when it's not appropriate. It doesn't matter if your boss pissed you off, if you don't have the kind of relationship with them where you can say anything that's on your mind, you need to keep your comments to yourself.

But Aries are impulsive, confrontational, and blunt — a bad combination if the situation calls for discretion, diplomacy, or tact. The best thing for Aries to do is to calm down, count to ten, take a breath, and consider if ripping someone a new one is actually the best course of action.

5. LEO (July 23 - August 22)

Leos love to talk and the wonderful thing is that not only are they captivating speakers, but people really want to hear them speak. However, when you're always given the platform to speak your mind, you may not be sensitive to those times when it's better not to talk too much. Leos like to present the best version of themselves, and sometimes that means being "on" or performing rather than just being natural.

When a Leo is talking too much it's often because they have so much nervous energy that they can't be still and listen to others. It's helpful to Leo to find that middle ground where they can be themselves and trust that their message is enough, so they don't have to steamroll people just to get them to hear it.

6. AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)

Aquarius' problem is they think they have to over-explain things to people because hardly anyone is on their intellectual level. When you give too many unimportant details in your conversation, people begin to lose track of where the conversation is, and they get bored.

Don't talk down to people, Aquarius; instead, bring them up to your level. Assume that they have a modicum of intelligence and that even if they don't have all the details or know the background of the story, they'll be able to fill in the blank spaces and keep up with you. If they can't, they'll ask questions, and maybe even take the conversation on a different, more interesting and exciting direction.
