A materialistic person spends their time working toward, plotting, and planning on how they can get that the latest electronic device or build up their bank account. They’re less concerned with experiences than they are with stuff.
When you’re materialistic, you’re not satisfied with what you've got. If you have an iPhone, you want the newest version and you’re not happy making due. If it’s bright, flashy or expensive, then it’s something you’ve must have.
Sometimes when people are materialistic, it can get in the way of their relationships. A materialistic person can become so consumed with getting something that they neglect their loved ones and their relationships.
It’s difficult to have compassion or empathy for another person when all you can think about is getting more and more money to buy things. Expensive items and generous gifts can be impressive, but they’re not sustaining.
If you’re more concerned with acquiring things then you are of your own spiritual, emotional, intellectual or cultural growth, you stagnate. Being object-orientated occasionally is okay if you need a reward to propel yourself forward, but it can't be the only reason you do something, just as checking your horoscope shouldn't be your only means of which direction to take.
Some zodiac signs are more materialistic than others, just as some individuals born under a sign won't show all the traits that are attributed to it. You could be a Leo and not be materialistic at all. We're just saying that as a sign, many Leos tend to be materialistic.
Here are the 6 most materialistic zodiac signs.
1. LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Leos are the OG of materialistic zodiac signs. They not only live in the material world, they want to own it. They like to acquire and show off expensive things. Leos are extremely generous, so they enjoy spending their money on buying nice gifts for other people. They'd rather buy someone something luxurious than do something spiritual.
Leos covet the material things that other people have and will focus their considerable energy on getting them. Leos tend to believe that having luxury or expensive items makes them look better and can help with their (already high) self-esteem.
2. TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus tend to be a bit self-indulgent when it comes to buying things for themselves and their homes. They love to surround themselves with beauty and would rather save up for a luxury tour to a beautiful place than take a spur of the moment camping trip. If they camp at all, it's going to be glamping.
There's a part of them that really believes that the person with the most stuff wins, and they're in constant competition with their neighbors, family, and friends regarding who has the latest phones, cars, and tech. But beauty has precedence over everything.
3. LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
Libras can be superficial and easily impressed by material things. The truth is they're attracted to pretty, shiny things and having them makes Libra feel better about themselves.
They're big spenders even if they don't have the cash to back it up. They want to feel as if they can have the same or better things that everyone else has, even if they don't have the means to have them.
This attitude can get Libra in trouble. If they could curb their spending, they wouldn't find themselves in financial trouble. What's a little credit card debt if it helps you feel good about yourself?
4. CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
The reason behind Capricorn's materialistic way of dealing with the world could be because their future is extremely important to them. They need to have a strong financial foundation that they can build on for security sake.
They like to invest in things that will gain in value like property, jewelry, and art. It's all about tangible things that Capricorn can count on for the future. You never know when the bottom might fall out and Capricorns like to be prepared for that inevitability.
5. CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Like Taurus, Cancer's materialistic side comes out in full force when it comes to their home. Rather than focusing on art and beauty, Cancer wants to spend their money on tactile things like Egyptian 1,500 thread count sheets, or gold picture frames to put family photos in. Cancers like real silk pajama, and expensive sound systems as they're very sensitive to poor quality.
Since the home is so important to Cancers and they spend a great deal of their free time there, they also like to have more than one, like a beach house or a cabin in the mountains — real estate that impresses others and doesn't come cheap.
6. PISCES (February 19-March 20)
Pisces aren't the most materialistic sign on the block but there are a few things they simply can't resist, and they feel that more expensive is better. Pisces have a difficult time not buying expensive shoes, glasses, and certain pieces of clothing. They love the feel of luxury items against their skin.
Pisces are never sure about what they spent their money on, but they know that it was worth it. Now, of course, they'd be willing to go without if it meant helping someone else, but that doesn't mean they won't covet a new pair of Jimmy Choos.
