Hayley Wood says a breakup did not cause his overdose.

DJ AM's girlfriend, Hayley Wood, vigorously denies that a breakup of their relationship two weeks before his death from a suspected accidental overdose was the cause of his relapse into drugs. "Any indication that this horribly tragic accident happened because of a rumored breakup is not only untrue but disgusting," Hayley told Us Weekly. "We were very much together at the time of his passing, and I love him very much."

Hayley, 22, and Adam Goldstein, known professionally as DJ AM, had been dating since late last year. They began seeing each other shortly after he broke up with actress and singer Mandy Moore in December. The model, whom a friend of Adam's described as "young and super cool," is reportedly devastated by his death and is speaking out to say that he did not overdose because she left him. They had vacationed together in France just weeks before he died. A woman believed to be Hayley was seen leaving Adam's apartment building, "visibly shaken," according to a witness, after his body was discovered on Friday. How To Help A Partner Grieve

Adam was found dead in his New York apartment August 28. Preliminary autopsy results were inconclusive, but the cause of death is presumed to be an accidental overdose of prescription drugs, including Xanax, which he was taking for anxiety. Authorities do not believe he committed suicide.

Adam, a recovering crack cocaine addict, survived a plane crash in 2008 that killed four of the other people on board. He and Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker survived with severe injuries. Friends believe Adam relapsed and began abusing prescription drugs to deal with the pain of the burns he suffered in the crash and anxiety caused by survivor's guilt.
