getty For some zodiac signs in astrology, tough love is how they demonstrate their love, especially as a parent. They can come off as insensitive or harsh, but they’d rather rip off the bandage than take it off slowly.
There are many aspects to tough love and sometimes it may be difficult to see it as coming from a place of love. It can be about setting firm boundaries, and not caving when the person you’re showing tough love to complains or crumbles.
Tough love is unyielding, can come across as mean or cruel, and is definitely not a good time. A partner who believes in tough love may be reticent to give praise or support because they want their partner to be able to stand on their own and not need to look to others to build their confidence.
No one wants their loved one to go through any unnecessary pain or hardship, but people who employ tough love find that it’s an effective way to teach valuable life lessons. Often, tough love is used as a last resort when every other method has proven to be ineffective.
If one can come out from the other side of a tough love situation, they’re often stronger, more independent, and capable.
1. ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
It takes a lot of strength to stop enabling a loved one and refuse to help them, even if it's clear that what they need help with is destructive and unhealthy. But Aries have a strong will.
Once Aries has decided on how to handle a situation and a loved one, they will stand firm. If there's something they need to say, no matter how insensitive or unkind it may appear, they will say it, and they won't try to make it more palatable. Aries can be brutally honest.
2. AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
One way an Aquarius practices tough love is that they rarely, if ever, fall for a victim story. An Aquarius can figure out the truth before the lie or the sad story is finished. No matter how tough the love is, Aquarius will always treat the other person with respect, especially during the tough love process.
Aquarius will absolutely refuse to engage in any kind of verbal fight, emotional argument, or insult war. They try to stay objective while still keeping their tough love goals in sight.
3. CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
With Capricorns, the foundation of tough love is setting boundaries, that there's no misunderstanding about them, and making sure they're implemented. Capricorn also makes sure they are consistent with their thoughts and actions.
They have a talent for knowing what to do in difficult situations and they're not above asking for assistance if they need it. Capricorn makes sure the person receiving the tough love understands they're not being punished and that it's happening to help them.
4. LEO (July 23 - August 22)
One of the major ways Leo demonstrates tough love is they will not do for anyone what they can do for themselves. Leos want the receiver of the tough love to grow and get stronger, even if it means going through a time of frustration.
Leos have tremendous follow-through, and when they set their mind to something, they accomplish it. They seem to be born with the knowledge of the importance of keeping the objective insight, remaining steadfast, and not wavering.
5. VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
When Virgo is employing tough love tactics, they'll usually develop a plan of action. They don't just throw a few things out there to see how they land; Virgos know the steps that must be taken if rules are broken, boundaries destroyed, or if their demands are ignored.
Virgos don't just stop when things get hard; they come up with new solutions or ways to strengthen the old ones. They know when to act, and when to step back and let the recipient of their tough love make their own mistakes.
