A new fan theory suggests that Harry Styles’ song “Matilda” may be secretly about Kendall Jenner.

The song, which appeared on the singer's third solo album, "Harry's House," tells the story of someone growing up to realize that their family was not the support system they might have needed as a child.

Fans have been putting forward many guesses about who "Matilda" really is and now some have come to a controversial opinion.

The fan claims the song is really about Kendall Jenner and her family exploiting her.

In the chorus, Styles mentions that “Matilda’s” family didn’t treat her right in childhood.

“You can let it go. You can throw a party full of everyone you know. And not invite your family, 'cause they never showed you love. You don't have to be sorry for leaving and growing up,” Styles said in the chorus.

Styles and Jenner briefly dated in 2013 and were linked again in 2014. They also appear to have remained friends over the years and appeared together when Styles guest hosted James Corden's "The Late Late Show."

Fans suspect that the singer may have been privy to how Jenner's family treat her or may think the Kardashian's are toxic.

Hence, as Jenner's friend and ex, he perhaps wishes to encourage her not feel guilty about distancing herself from her family.

Harry Styles confirmed that 'Matilda' is about someone he knows.

In an interview with Zane Lowe in May, the singer revealed that the premise for the song was inspired by someone in his life.

“I had an experience with someone where, in getting to know them better, they revealed some stuff to me that was very much like, ‘Oh, that’s not normal, like I think you should maybe get some help or something,’” Styles said.

“This song was inspired by that experience and person, who I kind of disguised as Matilda from the Roald Dahl book. I played it to a couple of friends and all of them cried.”

He also said that, prior to the album's release, the person had not heard it yet but they'll probably know it's about them.

"It's a weird one because in that same sense it's none of my business but it's been on my mind."

Fans were divided about whether 'Matilda' was inspired by Kendall Jenner.

“I don't think it's about Kendall persay but I won't get into why because it sounds mean,” one fan said. “I can see how some of the sentiment might fit though.”

However, several fans did concur with the findings and commented their approval.

“I feel like Kendall wants that normal supermodel life,” another fan said. “She wants to be known for her work, go to fun parties, but then she wants to go home and be left alone to do her own thing.”
