What Do Dreams About School Mean?

Dreams can get pretty crazy and you never know what is going to happen. Sometimes they reflect on things you are going through at the moment, and sometimes they reflect on things you haven’t experienced in a while — such as dreams about school.

It’s one thing when dreams about school occur while you are still in attendance, since that is what you’re going through at the moment and it’s what your life revolves around. But what does it mean when you haven’t been in class for a long time and you still are dreaming about school?

Dreams about: school

Dreaming about going to school, in general, represents any social concerns, insecurities, or anxieties you may have. You also could have issues at work or in other environments in your life that are weighing on your mind.

They also can reflect your concern about work or any projects that you feel need to be perfect.

Dreaming about going to school can also have a negative meaning. This reflects any heightened levels of anxiety you are experiencing in life.

Dreaming about being in a certain grade while in school reflects on how serious the issue at hand is. For example, if you are dreaming about being in an elementary class (this includes kindergarten to fifth grade) it reflects that you care about a specific issue and if you are dreaming about being in a university class it reflects that this issue is more of a concern that is requiring your full attention.

Dreams about: missing or taking a test

Dreaming about missing any test means that you might need to reorganize your life and is a sign that you should be more aware of any opportunities that you might have missed before.

If you’re dreaming about missing a test it also might mean that you are

  • Procrastinating at something that needs to be done.
  • Afraid to advance to the next step.
  • Fearing you are being left behind.
  • Feeling alone and scared.
  • Holding any feelings of inferiority or inadequacy.
  • Not prepared.
  • Holding self-esteem issues.
  • Lacking motivation.
  • Feeling examined by people or examining yourself too hard.

Dreams about: being late to school or class

Similar to dreaming about being late to a test, dreams about being late to school can mean you need to start organizing your life and being more responsible. However, if you are already those things in real life, then it can mean you are dissatisfied with the destination you are on time for.

It can also mean that you are trying to avoid your responsibilities and are wanting things to just come easily.

Dreaming about: high school friends

Having dreams about friends from high school (in a high school setting) means that you are repressing memories that might hurt you. This can also include having dreams about a high school reunion.

It can mean that deep down you are jealous of those who were your peers that are more successful in life. Or that maybe it’s the other way around and you want to show off your success to bring others down.

Overall it can mean you are having a hard time letting go of the past. Maybe something happened that you still regret during those times, and this is a sign to let go and forgive yourself or others.

Dreams about: sitting in a classroom

Any dreams about sitting in a classroom mean you are growing as a person. In real life, you are finally learning more about yourself and making yourself better.

They also can mean you are trying to look for other solutions to real-life problems. These problems are making you struggle and you want to make them go away, and all the solutions you have been provided are not satisfactory.

You also could be avoiding someone or something, it depends on where you are sitting. Being near the front means you are really worried about your problems more than those around you.
