A long time Hollywood couple has gotten married. Hilarie Burton wed her partner of 10 years, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, over the weekend in private ceremony attended by many of their friends, family and co-stars.

The couple has been together for so long that many people thought they were married well before this week. But IMDB notes that Burton said in a 2015 interview that they had never officially married and planned to do so when they could both get enough time off work. Apparently, they were able to find a free weekend because they both announced their marriage on Instagram and they couldn't be happier about it.

5. Wait, weren't they married already?

Many fans thought the couple had tied the knot ages ago but the truth was, they had never made it official. Burton talked about that on Instagram and told fans that they never bothered to correct news reports that said they were legally wed already. "We’ve lived as husband and wife for a decade. We’ve built a family, and a farm and found our community," she wrote. "For years, publications have reported that we got married in 2014 or 2015 and that I’ve been married and divorced before. All untrue. But WE knew our truth. So it felt silly to try and correct anything."

6. A long love story goes on

Burton closes her post out with words about how she and her new hubby have been living their love all along, even if they didn't have a wedding until now. "Here’s the God’s honest fact: From the moment I met @jeffreydeanmorgan, he was my husband. Rather than make vows right out of the gate, we lived them. For over ten years. The good times and the bad," she said. "Standing up there with our children at our sides — celebrating all that has been — was bliss. I love you Jeffrey. I love our intimate group of friends and family who joined us. I love the various circles of loved ones who have supported us over the years. It was private and magical and everything I dreamed. So yeah. I’m Mrs. Morgan. 10.5.19"

7. The best day of our lives

Morgan also took to social media to talk about how happy he was after the wedding. In a black and white photo of the whole family looking delighted, he talked about how perfect the day had been for him. "It was an intimate ceremony… performed by @jensenackles and @bigbaldhead with our kids at our sides… and the party of the century afterwards…” Morgan wrote. “Thank you to all our friends and family. It was, without a doubt… the best day of our lives. Ever ever. Just never knew that it could be so damn perfect. It was. And more.”
