What Is The Silent Treatment & How You Should Handle It, By Zodiac Sign

Silence is an interesting concept of the universe.

For some of us, we need it so we can sleep at night. For others, we need it to work well.

However, some people use this thing called the silent treatment and it's meant to control the other person.

The silent treatment is using cold distance to trigger an emotional response or fear of abandonment in the other person, and opens the door to codependency and a dangerous dance that is formed through a toxic bond.

And some just like the silence for the peace and quiet it brings. It can provide a sort of relaxation you can’t get through other means.

But sometimes silence can also make us uncomfortable and it's hard to know how to handle it.

Like when a classroom is talking and it all of the sudden falls quiet. Or when you really have to cough but you’re in the middle of a lecture where everyone is silent. Worst of all, how about when you get stuck with your ex that you just broke up with two weeks ago? Talk about AWKWARD silence.

Regardless of the situation, silence is just another fundamental part of the universe. It’s no different than the sunlight or the air we breathe.

It’s something that’s always there, one way or another. I mean, even in space it’s a silence vacuum. So, why is it that when someone gives us the silent treatment, it can be so...ugh? Is the silent treatment so different than regular silence?

As human beings, no matter your personality or your sign, we hate being ignored. We want attention from others when we do something.

If you put on a good show, you want to be praised. If you’re crying, you want someone to tell you it’ll be okay.

Either way, you want people to look at you when you doing something even as simple as talking.

So when you’re boyfriend/girlfriend or best friend gives you the silent treatment, it’s the worst feeling.

It leaves you wondering why they’re acting like that, and how can you fix it? No matter the reason, you know you hate it.

But why do you hate it and how should you handle it? Well here’s why, by your zodiac sign.

ARIES (March 21 – April 19)

For Aries, you hate the silent treatment because of their impatience. If you don’t get an answer right away it drives you crazy! You have to know why he/she is acting like that. Try just asking why.

If you're a Cancer, you hate the silent treatment because it makes you really emotional.
